Unsurprisingly, it’s been a whole year since my last post... But today, to mark #SingleParentsDay21, I’m sharing an image from my ongoing project, The 25 Percent, which explores the landscape of single parenthood in the UK. This is Egle, who I met back in 2018 whilst she was enrolled in university full-time and simultaneously bossing solo-parenting life with her 5-year-old daughter. I don’t want to use this space for my own words today. Here’s some from Egle:
“Some days can be challenging and make me think “Oh, is this all my fault?”, the responsibility is completely up to me and so immense. The hardest aspect is that when my daughter does something new, amazing or funny which makes my heart burst with pride and love - there is no one I can share it with, who could feel the same as me.”

Earlier this year, I was invited to be a involved in a very special book project called @invisiblebritain . A project with a mission to amplify the voices of those that feel underrepresented, ignored, misunderstood.
Fast forward now - Invisible Britain's release date is quickly approaching (November 1st), and very soon, you will be able to read about Jenny's story, amongst some other incredible stories of hope and resilience Britain today.

I am pleased to say that for the month of September, my portrait of Harriet and her daughter from my series, The 25 Percent will be exhibited nationwide on @jcdecauxglobal screens as part of the @bjp1854 Portrait of Britain 2018 winning selection. You can look out for the portrait at bus stops, high streets, train stations and airports.

The image will also be published alongside some fantastic work by my friends @elliesmeaton and @arabellezhuang in the first ever Portrait of Britain Book made by the lovely @hoxtonminipress launching 6th September! The book is currently available for preorder.

From #The25Percent, an ongoing series I have been working which explores the dynamics of one-parent households in the UK. Marcus is the first single father I have photographed for the project (they all seem to be hiding!) and his daughter is the best little artist I have met to date.
