I think for Chloe, it almost started out as a bit of a joke, and then combined with her love for Normal People, it felt like a really creative and original way to address the resemblance. “It then became a collaboration, figuring out what scenes to draw inspiration from... [But] It’s one thing saying you can recreate something and [another thing] actually being able to do it; that was a little mini-stress I had after winning the job. closing out with some bts / process images for stasis. walking this film through from a spark of an idea to a tangible reel of film i can hold in my hands has been truly transformative. despite the pushing and pulling of life - I look back at this film, at this period of my life with true joy and thankfulness in my heart. it’s more thematically resonant and timely than I could have imagined (all art usually is). thank you to everyone who helped to get it across the line, to everyone who gave an encouraging word to bring stasis into the world! What feels like indefinite, stillness or stagnancy. What does it breed? In the repetition, what are we becoming - transforming into? Stasis is a short dance experimental film, exploring our relationship with time, nature and the uncertainty of the future. ’Stasis’ follows three characters enclosed in a home, suspended in time – stuck in their everyday routines. The setting is dreary, and sparse – as if the sun no longer orbits the earth.
