Scent Story: @altraprofuture | perfume review by @eaudemoi
In perfumery, I deeply value integrity; when form and content correspond to one another, create an intriguing conceptual contrast, and ultimately complement each other perfectly.
Altra combines a futuristic aesthetic with a strong focus on natural ingredients. Inside these icicle-like bottles are harmonious, almost seamless compositions that reveal the full beauty and richness of natural materials: jasmine, mimosa, orris root, Buddha wood, Italian bergamot, mate tea, etc.
It’s also a rare example of a collection where every fragrance is a strong player, each representing a distinct olfactory genre or family. Here, you can find the perfect skin scent, a tropical yellow floral, a smoky white floral with a gothic allure, and more.
Altra’s bizarre floral universe evokes the Shimmer and the dreamlike aesthetic of Annihilation by Alex Garland. Observing their metamorphoses — both on blotter and on skin — is equally fascinating. But it is on the skin that the true magic happens, and the fragrances begin to reveal living, almost animate qualities.

At Altra, co-founder alongside Bridget Plant and perfumer @beckieloub crafts 100% natural perfumes. I first discovered the brand sometime in late 2022, and Jasmin XXX has been on my mind ever since.
It revolves around a rich, white-floral Jasmine Sambac core, which is not indolic but has a fresh, breezy, orange-blossom-oriented character, fruity tonalities, and a pronounced honeyed tea undertone. Infused with a tart, sparkling bergamot top note that surprisingly persists into Jasmine XXX’s heart, it gets entwined with a rich layer of Buddha Wood, which stems from the Australian native plant Eremophila mitchellii. To my nose, its aroma is a medley of cedar, guaiac, and sandalwood, as it combines their sweet-resinous and rugged, smoky yet mellow qualities.
I reckon Beckielou Brown has a unique way of making naturals smell futuristic. Jasmin XXX is perhaps her most “traditional” work, and it still stands out from all the Jasmine-centred creations I have come across thus far. While there are many I enjoy on others, this is the one I want to wear myself.

Recently, I’ve come across many natural (and predominantly natural) perfume brands. Among them, one particularly pleasant discovery was the British brand @altraprofuture . I was captivated by their futuristic design and their use of 100% natural materials. It’s a truly bold move. Their bottles remind me of beautiful icicles, and even the samples made with great attention to detail.
🩶 DUALIST: a fantasy of concrete, made with honeyed blossoms and blonde woods.
🩶 GHST FLWR: white lily with unripe tropical fruits, saffron, and incense.
🩶 ALTRA SKIN: a modern skin scent, slightly sweet pure musk.
🩶 STONE COLD HEART: smoky, spicy mate tea with dried fruits, vetiver, and cedar.
🩶 JASMIN XXX: tropical jasmine sambac soaked in banana milk.
I’ve tried the samples, and I really liked their rounded caps. The stopper is convenient, allowing you to apply exactly as much perfume as you want. Make sure to close the cap tightly to prevent evaporation. Another detail I appreciated is the milliliter markings on the glass.
While testing and wearing the fragrances over the past couple of weeks, I deliberately tried to read as little information and as few reviews as possible, so I could focus purely on my own personal impressions.
Overall: amazing balance of futuristic aesthetics and natural raw materials, with meticulous design and beautifully minimalist storytelling. ALTRA is truly worth attention from both fragrance enthusiasts and experts. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this brand!
