Sometime last year I got the opportunity to host an Art of Infusions Workshop for a group if @google employees. My first corporate workshop and I throughly enjoyed it. Although I’ve been quiet in the world of herbalism and flavor concoctions I still find this area of my life incredibly inspiring and exhilarating. The concept of flavor remains one of the ultimate multi sensory experiences and someday I’ll get back in the rhythm of hosting experiences like this again. year, @pedro_ernesto__ and I started a community garden project at @globalgrowers in Decatur Legacy Park. We spent a long time plucking mugwort that had overgrown our plot and building up the soil during our first year tending this land. Unfortunately, I lost the footage from when the garden was at its peak, but regardless, it was a rewarding experience and we’ll be continuing in 2025. This year we’re ramping up production to provide our close friends and family with more access to high quality produce and herbs. We’re also going to focus on mood balancing herbs to be infused in meads 🥰🥰 #florapapi #ayni #localbrewer

Mulberry holy basil mead with mulberries foraged last year (check the link reel) and holy basil from the garden. Berry and basils are some of my favorite combos. I’d like to involve more fungal companions into the mix I just haven’t had any fresh, local or foraged goods outside of chaga and I pair that with other blends. Did you know mead is one of the oldest alcoholic beverages. Early “mead” were likely just fermented honey deposits stumbled upon by our ancestors but the oldest datings of human production comes from china in clay pottery containers. I’be spent a lot of my last few years diving into non alcoholic psychoactive compounds and have been entering my fermentation era with mead. My mead production is technically considered Metheglin (mead with herbs) or Melomel (mead with fruit) and explores the nuances of of flavor combination for specific effects and herbally induced highs. A lot of my flavor creations will be mead this year for preservation reasons and to explore my relationship with the microorganisms that make this all possible #mead #melomel #metheglin #fermentatiin

So I had quite a bit of fun with this one. Thanks to discovering freeze distillation I’ve gotten a revitalized interest in crafting some new flavor profiles for my arsenal. In this video I am working with mango, lime, and a Thai basil syrup. Then layered with black pepper and mimosa extract for active effects. I’d describe it as being rich and sweet with a musky herbaceous finish and subtle tones of bitterness, astringency and spice. Perhaps one of my favorites actually.
