What a special night for the US Premiere for Michael! Jane got a chance to meet Jaafar on the red carpet. We spotted Magic there too. We sat right next to another legend, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, during the screening! The audience loved the film. @jaafarjackson received a standing ovation and gave a beautiful speech about how much he wanted the film to convey the best of his uncle and his family and to bring the world together. So grateful to @gkfilms for the invitation to the premiere and the chance to celebrate with the team including the legendary @ottmanjohn (I stupidly forgot to take a photo with!), @nancykirhoffer and @_ryan_chavez_ . I became a Bruce Springsteen fan late in life after discovering his River and Nebraska albums much later than I care to admit. Iām embarrassed to say Iāve never seen him live until tonight and he exceeded all my expectations. He poured himself out like a tireless prophet exhorting all of us in the audience to not forget that there was still cause to fight and hope for an American story that was based on decency and values so different than the one we are living today. I was so inspired by the example of someone so clearly living out his calling and so full of purpose and vitality. May we all follow his example. As an added bonus I got to visit one of the locations for one of the scenes I edited for #michaelmovie #landofhopeanddreams @springsteen

Michael opens April 24th! One month to go before @michaelmovie premieres starring the incredible @jaafarjackson ! The first album I ever bought was THRILLER and I played that cassette tape until it warped in my Walkman. Iāve been listening and dancing to MJās music for a long time. So getting a chance to be an editor on this film was like living in young immigrant Harryās day dream. I hope you will watch this movie and get a chance to relive your own childhood memories of this unique and world-changing artist.

Uncommon Creators is a one day CONFERENCE in Los Angeles and Harry Yoon @alsoharry is a panelist! Harry is a film editor whose work bridges intimate storytelling and cinematic spectacle. His credits include Thunderbolts, Beef, Minari, and Shang-Chi. A graduate of Williams College, Harry initially pursued a career in tech before moving to Hollywood in his 30s to pursue a career in the film industry. Harry views filmmaking as both craft and callingāan opportunity to reflect truth, grace, and the complexity of the human experience. He often speaks about how his faith guides his storytelling, helping him find beauty in brokenness and hope in the everyday. Through his work, Harry seeks to bridge cultures and perspectives, using the art of editing to reveal the sacred within the ordinary and the universal within the personal.
This is the only photo of Robert Redford I dared to take during my first year as an editor at the Sundance Labs. He was riding his motorcycle away from an impossibly beautiful valley where we were all gathered in a circle for a blessing ceremony- a sacred labs tradition. I was too afraid to violate the unwritten rules of etiquette to take any closer photos of him, thank god. Iām mourning today though. Iām so grateful to the man. That summer at the Labs, the people I met there, the ethos of pouring out all you have for the sake of your crew, your growth, for the work itself; it felt so free and pure. I was a different editor and a different filmmaker coming down from the mountain. And for years to come, the gift of being a part of the Sundance family and even having a film or two premiere at the festival only magnified my gratitude.
