AD - Running isn’t about perfection - it’s about progress, positivity, and the small changes we can make every day that build up to a bigger whole. One thing I’ve changed recently? I now fuel adequately. Training fasted used to be my go-to. But now, I won’t run without fuelling my miles. One small change - but it helps me to show up stronger than before. 🌱 The Start of Something Better @flora × @londonmarathon 📸: @runnerben_ #fuelyourruns #marathontraining #thestartofsomethingbetter #Flora

Introducing one of the faces of your 2024 @newbalancerunning @londonmarathon - ME. 🥹🏃‍♀️🤯😭🚀 A campaign designed to celebrate all runners, I was asked to front the official LDN 2024 Marathon campaign alongside a mix of other grassroots runners, club founders, and athletes from across the UK. The aim was simple: to share the stories of real runners, many who have tirelessly built or expanded communities purely because of their love of the sport and passion to share that feeling with others. It’s hard not to get a bit emotional seeing my face alongside so many other amazing humans. Running has changed my life for the better, made me who I am today, and enriched my life in so many ways. The London Marathon was where it all started - it’s single-handedly responsible for making me fall so head over heels for the sport. Running is never just about running - it’s about joy, community, endorphins, energy, passion, pastries, and making the most of every day. And, of course, reminding yourself day in, day out, that yes, you can. 🫶 One of the biggest pinch me moments of my life being featured next to Team GB Olympic Gold medallist @lixsanyee and Team Switzerland Olympic Gold medalist @debrunnercatherine , too. I CANNOT tell you how excited I am to see these out in the wild (coming to NB stores, the expo and billboards near you soon!) - please do tag me if you see them anywhere. Biggest heartfelt thanks to @harry_swin @grovelanerunners for making community running feel fun again and @newbalance @gungho_co and the dream team @harrietrose90 @georgemarrable for the opportunity. One of my biggest life highlights to date! #RunYourWay

Guys, you guessed it… I’m running @hackneymoves on Sunday, for the second year in a row. 🕺🌈💫🧞‍♀️💖 So I thought, to celebrate, I’d run you through all my favourite half marathons, as someone who’s done close to 100 in her lifetime. 🏃‍♀️ This took some WHITTLING DOWN, I tell you. I’ve been running for ten years and done more halves than I can actually count. But I’ve included a mix of speedy Gonzales courses, races with great crowds and cheer support vibes, and also more community/local events, if that’s more your vibe. 🕺 My personal favs: 💫 @londonlandmarkshalf 💫 @hackneymoves , obvs 💫 @greenparkreadinghalf , my hometown half 💖 💫 @maidenheadhalf , a fab @runthroughuk event And further afield ✈️ 🌎 💫 @semideparis 💫 @berlinerhalbmarathon 💫 @cphhalf Currently on my list that I’d love to try! 💫 @mcrhalf 💫 @windsorhalfmarathon (I’ve done both but many, many moons ago) 💫 @cardiffhalf . 🏃‍♀️ Bookmark for later, share with a mate you’d love to book one of these with, and tell me - what’s your favourite half marathon that you’ve ever run? ✨ #halfmarathons #runner #runnergirl

This is a HUGE step for women with PCOS - it validates what we’ve long known about our bodies. It could mean earlier diagnosis, better screening, and a more 360 approach to how to ease our symptoms. The term “PCOS” has long been confusing, because not everyone with the condition has “cysts” on their ovaries, and having polycystic ovaries doesn’t mean you have PCOS. PCOS - now “PMOS” - is a condition which affects your entire body. Your hormones, metabolism, mood, and more. As a Health Editor who’s lived with PCOS/PMOS her whole life, this feels like an overwhelmingly positive step in the right direction. It shows we’re being listened to, and it shows that change *can* happen. It also reflects decades of women advocating for themselves and their bodies. 🤍 That said, we still need more funding, more research, and more support. 170 million women worldwide suffer from PCOS/PMOS with most cases going undiagnosed (0.2-5.2% diagnosis, vs 4-19.6% of cases). PCOS/PMOS receives 2-3x less funding then diseases affecting fewer people. More often than not, the only solution you are offered by a doctor is “to lose weight” (which is laughable, because the very nature of our condition makes that much, much harder). More needs to be done. So here’s to making it happen. 📣 What are your thoughts on the name change? #pcos #pmos #femalehealth

My biggest lesson from this marathon training block? How letting go a little can actually help you perform at your best. I had one mantra for @bostonmarathon - “Everything is a win when the goal is experience.” 🦄 And heading into the race dead set on enjoying it, rather than fixating on my splits or watch, actually turned out to be pretty magical. 🪩 I smiled the whole way round. I high fived so many colleague students in the infamous scream tunnels. And I came in nearly two minutes under my A goal for the race. 🥹 8 years, 11 marathons, 5 Boston qualifying times, and one sub 3.10 Championship qualifying PB. 🥇 Running is never about the times - it’s about what they teach you along the way - but for all of it, I’m just beyond grateful. So take this as your reminder to remember your why ✨ and lace up for the joy of it all, rather than the time on your ⌚️. #bostonmarathon #sub310 #personalbest #runnergirl #mindsetmatters

One of the things I’m most passionate about, as a Health and Wellness Editor who’s worked in the industry for 10+ years? Balancing the gender health gap and educating women on the lack of research into how women train and perform best. It’s a sad fact that women weren’t even allowed to run the marathon at the Olympic Games marathon until 1984. That’s one generation ago. So when women struggle with fueling, injury, or performance, the question isn’t “what’s wrong with them?” - it’s “what was never designed for them?” As women, we’ve long been excluded in science due to “hormonal variability” - ironically the very thing that needs studying. TLDR: They removed half the population to make the data easier. And while we’re seeing more female-specific research - I write about cycle tracking in elite sport, female-focused sports nutrition, and increased visibility for female athletes regularly on @marieclaireuk - there still needs to be more funding and advocacy. From crash test dummies to running shoes, the “default male” has consequences. We need to design female-first research, not just “add women and compare”; we need to integrate menstrual cycle literacy into coaching certifications; we need to rethink performance metrics and training templates; and we need to encourage women to track and advocate for their own data. When we design for women, we don’t exclude men - we improve the system for everyone. #womeninsport #genderhealthgap #womenshealth #womensupportingwomen

Back with another #FitKitFiles for ya, this time - the best sports bras for running that look cute and feel better. Give this a save if you’re in the market for designs that’ll last the long run, support you adequately, and elevate any run fit (and yes, I’ve been testing for the best part of 10 years now 🕺). ✨ @nikerunning Swoosh bra - with stitched in padding so one can’t go AWOL and a racer back design, these are a great price point and medium support option. ✨ @fpmovement Win Win bra - square neck, long line detail and 101 colourways to choose from, this is an easy go-to for high impact sessions and a great ££, too. ✨ @lululemon Energy Bra - there’s a reason I have so many. 🤪 Probably my most worn sports bra, it’s hard to fault this design, and I’ve tested it over pretty much all workouts and run lengths (I wore one for the Chicago Marathon in 2022 🥇) ✨ @aloyoga Wild Thing sports bra - impressively supportive and sweat wicking thanks to their signature Airbrush fabric. 💅 Let me know your go-to’s in the comments - I’m all ears. 🪩📣 #runningbras #sportsbras #runnergirl #runnerlife
