RACE DAY FAQ - READ CAREFULLY Where is the Race Village/Race Start? The Race Village is in Maidenhead United Football Club, York Road, Maidenhead, SL6 1SF. Is there parking? Yes, there is plenty of free town centre parking available at Hines Meadow Car Park and Nicholsons Walk Car Park. What is the nearest station to the start? Maidenhead Railway Station – a short 5 mins walk. What time should I arrive on the day? Enquiries: 7:30. Start Times: Between 8:30 - 10:00. Allocated with respect to estimated finish time (prioritising quicker times) and communicated prior to the event by email and/or SMS, these times may be subject to change. Is there anywhere I can leave my bag while I'm competing? Yes, there will be a baggage drop in the event village. Are there toilets available? Yes, there will be toilets available. Are there showers? Sorry, no shower facilities available. Are there toilets along the course? There are no portaloos along the course. Can I wear headphones? Noise-cancelling earphones/headphones are prohibited and whilst we discourage the use of other earphones/headphones at this event, participants choosing to use them should ensure they are set to a minimum volume such that instructions from marshals or other race officials can be clearly understood. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who cannot hear instructions as a result of their use.

NUTRITION & HYDRATION The golden rule of racing: never try anything new on race day. This means whatever gels or foods you're going to use to fuel yourself on race day, make sure you practice with them in training. This is because you never know how your stomach might react and you don't want any surprises or Paula Radcliffe moments on race day! Eating a huge bowl of pasta the night before a race is a misunderstanding of what 'carb loading' means. Instead, you should gradually build up your carbohydrate intake in the days and weeks leading up to the race, rather than one big meal the night before. It's also advisable to avoid fibre in the week of the race, so no fruit or veg just for that week. AID STATIONS AT OUR RACE For this year's Maidenhead Half Marathon, we have aid stations just after Mile 3, between Miles 5 & 6, at Mile 9, and just after Mile 11.

THE ROUTE The race route for the Maidenhead Half Marathon is on fully tarmacked road and is a flat, fast and traffic-free, officially measured course. It is a two-lap course taking you alongside the river to Cookham, before returning to Maidenhead. A detailed route map can be found on the race website. The race is well signed by marshals and run entirely on closed roads. The front runner in each event will be lead around the course by a qualified and experienced lead motor vehicle marshal.

EVENT DAY INFO: PARKING Free parking will be available at Hines Meadow Car Park and Nicholsons Walk Car Park. Both car parks are a short walk away from the start/finish area. BAG DROP A baggage tag will be on the bottom of your race number – just tear it off and tie the tag to your bag before taking it to the baggage zone. Be prepared to show your race number in order to retrieve your bag afterwards. TOILETS There will be portable toilets in the Event Village. There are no race toilets along the route, however, there are public toilets in Cookham as you turn left into School Lane (please note – they are 100m past the School Lane turning, meaning they are off the course).

A 12-minute mile and a 7-minute mile are both a mile! It doesn't matter how fast or slow you run, you are still a runner 🙌
