Where Nature is Queer: (Re)imagining Sinophone Care & Possibilities
To confront human supremacy over nature and Han supremacy with/in and beyond the Chinese community, our photo series explores how fluid, reciprocal and queer relationships can inform our connection to the land and challenge colonial violences.
We explore…
Inheritance: Whose ecologies, embodied knowledges, and histories are valued and devalued? What legacies, traditions and paradoxes do we inherit as queer Sinophone people?
Responsibilities: What are our responsibilities to challenge and reimagine imposed colonial binaries (ex. Human vs nature, queer vs Chinese, East vs West) and ethnic/racial supremacies? How can Han supremacy and trans/queerphobia be recognized, disrupted, and denaturalized?
Transformation: What do we desire to reclaim and reshape from these legacies, traditions, and paradoxes? What can and how has organizing for queer Sinophone liberation looked and felt like? How can we reshape and reclaim love for our community on the margins of Chineseness and queerness?
