My first Jazz Fest was exactly 30 years ago. All my belongings were stolen, it rained the entire time, and I had the time of my life. This year was my first photographing for @jazzfest with the most incredible team and @mymorningjacket closing it down. So much love for my dad, my hometown, and the bass drum of my youth banging away in the background. This world is tiny… until you got to paint it❤️
“The First Lady of the Children’s Folk Song” has left the building. Her energy was palpable, fierce, and quiet, like a great athlete of the soul. I felt/feel very honored to have shared a couple of hours with her, back in 2014. Sending you love Ella Jenkins… a true Chicago icon❤️

IT’S ALIVE!!! @boec_kner ‘s album was released today by @subpop records. To say it was an honor to be included in producing the album art is an understatement. I have always been a huge fan of SubPop and Dan’s. They really let us do some wild things in creating this work and the album is absolutely incredible. Shoutout to my friend @jayejayle for doing illustrations and @jbrasted for being the best photo assistant of ALL TIME. Also, the video for Dead Tourists that was produced by my friend carmenpaula and a slew of talent is worth checking out. Tour dates are announced. See everybody @emptybottle June 5th❤️
For anybody who has ever asked me whether I ever shot with film, this is some work I did for the Library of Congress. Shot entirely with 4x5 sheet film of one of the first public housing projects in Chicago, the Lathrop Homes. Such a blessing to revisit this work.
Excited to share news from the other arena of my life. I worked on some album art with my friend Dan last year. Evan Patterson @jayejayle did amazing drawings which can be seen in the video linked in my bio. The album comes out March 15th. It’s a knock out!
