In honor of today’s US Open Men’s Final and another glorious Sincaraz rematch.
Oh also, this first shot is very much inspired by @geofflowe who does insanely cool stuff constantly.
When I started training for this Ironman, my goal was simply to finish it. Over the last two and a half months, I’ve developed a slightly better understanding of pacing and what may be realistic for me.
While the world class guys are finishing the whole thing in under 8 hours, I’d be over the moon about finishing sub 11. That scares me a bit to say because it introduces a more realistic possibility of failure. I could ease back on the swim, bike, and run and it would still be a grueling 12+ hours, but it wouldn’t feel like as daunting a challenge. For some reason, I crave the risky route.
The way I’m used to competing, you either win or are disappointed. I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll walk away feeling like I’ve won by achieving my goal. Even if I don’t, it’s hard to imagine feeling disappointed about officially becoming an Ironman.
Some recent work for @roka and their CrossFit Games collaboration glasses. Happy to call all four of these incredible people (and athletes) good friends of mine. Can’t wait to see them on the floor this week, but also looking forward to more time outside of competition with these stellar folks.
