“We need to dare to shake things up and create art that both addresses and generates friction.” Actor Antonia Atarah, dance artists Johanna Karlberg and Alen Nsambu, and sound designer and musician Nicolas “Leissi” Rehn spent three weeks at the residency at the Davvi centre for performing arts in Hammerfest in September 2025. The rising star that is ALEN NSAMBU shows his first solo-work NEON BEIGE at Inkonst 8 NOV. He graduated from Den Danske Scenekunstskolen (DK) with a BFA degree in dance and choreography in 2022. Nsambu’s first full-length choreographic stagework Neon beige, premiered on Zodiak Stage in April 2024. Throwback till residenset i Hammerfest i september! ✨ Scenkonstgruppen bakom verket Swedish Asshole arbetade i tre veckor på Davvi – Senter for Scenekunst. Skådespelaren Antonia Atarah, danskonstnären Johanna Karlberg och Alen Nsambu samt ljuddesigner och musiker Nicolas ”Leissi” Rehn blev vald till residenskonstnärer genom en open call hösten 2024. Under vistelsen arbetade gruppen med Swedish Asshole, ett scenkonstverk som behandlar och dechiffrerar finlandssvenska logiker och sociala koder. Verket leker med den finlandssvenska beundran och strävan till det sverigesvenska, samtidigt som den motsägelsefullt tar avstånd från det. Residenstet är ett samarbete mellan @davvi_scene @kulturfonden och @finnokultur . Det fokuserar på att skapa plats för minoritetsspråk på teaterscenen. _ Throwback to the residency in Hammerfest in September! ✨ The performing arts group behind Swedish Asshole spent three weeks at Davvi – Senter for Scenekunst. Actor Antonia Atarah, dance artists Johanna Karlberg and Alen Nsambu, and sound designer and musician Nicolas ’Leissi’ Rehn were selected for the residency through an open call in autumn 2024. During the residency, they worked on ’Swedish Asshole’, a performance examining and deciphering Finnish-Swedish logics and social codes. The piece plays with the Finnish-Swedish admiration for Swedish culture while simultaneously distancing itself from this. Alen Nsambu (he/they, b. 1998) is a Finnish-Angolan choreographer and performer based in Helsinki. In 2022 they graduated from Den Danske Scenekunstskole with a BFA in dance and choreography. Nsambu has collaborated internationally with artists such as Sonya Lindfors (FI), Alma Söderberg (SE), W A U H A U S (FI), Marie Topp (DK) and Miles Greenberg (US). Nsambu’s work explores identity, joy and the notion of neutral/natural/normal through interdisciplinary practices. Nsambu has been featured at The Watermill Center, Amos Rex Art Museum, Zodiak - Center for New Dance, The Finnish National Theater and other notable venues.
