A Skin of Soil [LIVE A/V] @akyute_ x @alicesparklykat at @mirafestival The piece is a navigation of the year of the snake to embody new skins. A series of narrative stories and speculations that play with the concept of resurrection by fire. Together we explored storytelling experiences through the poetics of shedding; metabolising past and co-imaginaries, rooted in intimacy, decay, and collective regeneration. Through sharing our practices, methodologies and knowledge systems @alicesparklykat has written: a piece on migration, a silly horror story about a snake, a fable about skin, and a forecast for 2025 year of the Wood Snake. Whilst @akyute_ has been working on the audiovisual and audiorreactive narrative, in collaboration with sound artists @b4mba + @opoku.loves.u The performance has a duration of 45 minutes and consists of reading accompanied by live A/V. This collaboration was curated by @ikrambouloum Documented by @anaferrercodina

How can artists utilise technology as a means to reestablish the connection between people and nature? Based in Barcelona, Magdalena Hart (@magohart ) and Natalia Gima’s (@natalia_gima ) collaborative practice is rooted in installation and performance. Active since 2019 as a duo under the name @akyute_ , they utilise technology as a means to reestablish the connection between people and nature by integrating interaction design, generative sound, and audiovisual arts and experiences. With this approach, they integrate nature into the digital age, in a way (re)situating the human experience within the natural world. A series of our visuals created initially for our piece ‘A Skin if Soil’ in collaboration with @alicesparklykat : navigation of the year of the snake to embody new skins. A series of narrative stories and speculations that play with the concept of resurrection by fire. Although we didn’t present our piece at OFFNada, we were more than pleased to accompany the lineup of talented artists who did. Gracias por la confianza! Whilst we figure out the future of our performance, we have put together an editorial format where we share our process so far. Thank you to those who took one home with you. Artistes participantes: @glxgls , @djsosard @b4mba , @dania_paralaxe , @oma.totem , @__sarapersico @_mika_oki_ @babasy__ , @tiyumii + @amantra__ + more supported by @akyute_ , ancient pleasure, @asia.violin @per.eyra , nexus @idkebra vika pacheko, @sofia_____.__

This is a piece i’ve been prototyping since 2022, emerging from an intimate need to capture the subtleties of my research, the delicacies of the process or methodology itself. A gesture to revisit: what is kept, what is archived, what is buried. To me this piece represents an exploration to compost my practice, to let words decompose and nourish the soil, creating new thought configuracions. Language, like organic matter, erodes over time—creating a space where past reflections intersect with emerging ideas, where meaning shifts with time, matter, and context. Composting my practice means embracing cycles of decomposition and regeneration. Rupture and repair. My research is not based on fixed methods, but on an intimate dialogue with more-than-human organisms and the materials themselves, shifting the place from where i listen from. thank you to @nikewomen / @lexa.services for supporting this ongoing investigation. soon to be found at @il.lacions - a huge thank you to both @maria.chidan and @samuel_hramirez for their metalwork in this process <3333 - flowers by @floristeriaandy

Alongside @akyute_ and @alicesparklykat we have withdrawn our performance “A Skin of Soil [ Live A/V ] from Sónar Festival. Although Sónar´s most recent public statement does enouragingly distance the festival from the genocide-complicit actions of its parent company KKR, it fails to fully adhee to BDA guidelines or engage with the other Palestinian demands outlined in last week´s open letter which has now been signed by more than 140 artists. Currently we are working on an editorial format to share our works, which will be available for purchase soon, whilst we look for new spaces to exhibit our performance. Together we were to share a navigation of the year of the snake to embody new skins. A series of narrative stories and speculations that play with the concept of resurrection by fire. In collaboration with Akyute, Alice Sparkly Kat will read a silly horror story about a snake, a fable about skin, and give a forecast for 2025 year of the Wood Snake. We center this storytelling experience around the theme of regeneration. Akyute is an interactive installation and performance duo impulsed by Magdalena Hart and Natalia Gima. Their practice is grounded in critical art, ecology, and digital technology. Through metaphors and sensitive narratives, they seeks to expand environmental awareness to explore more-than-human languages for imagining possible futures. Alice Sparkly Kat is an astrologer. Their goal is to practice astrology by reconstructing history, interpreting the present, and nurture the future. They are the author of Postcolonial Astrology

desde cuales contornos elegir escuchar, y que guarda cada nudo, quiebra, caida. time, force, space se compartirá hoy a las 20:30 en @fabraicoatsbcn dentro de @ecoss_bcn cycle junto a @akyute_ + @wawrzyn.wawrzyn + @nona_sie gracias a @maria.chidan por traernos al rio de la plata 🛠️🪚 “as digital technology becomes ever more rooted internally, rendering as invisible, we come to humanize it, outsourcing our processes of self-awareness at the risk of desensitising our connection to our own bodies. where at a lack of randomness, there is a disenchantment of the human experience. as the body was reduced to measurements, the community was reduced to individuals and the earth reduced to property. in this piece the movements constructs a digital landscape that begs to respond to flesh, but the system cannot interpret from what the body experiences and from where it dances. we can breathe life into digital technology without losing our humanity. how I can be present to this duality? In this way, the piece asks what it means to be a pebble in a stream: stones endure far beyond our bodies, shaped by forces over time without losing their essence, drifting with the worlds they inhabit. This performance, then, is an invitation to embody these skins.”
