This was, hands down, the most beautiful place I have every played. Did this really happen? Surrounded by trees, the amazing staff and energetic crowd, a dream came true. When I saw all of you waving, dancing and jumping the whole time, I felt so incredibly touched and connected with all of you. Sometimes I feel a bit mixed about posting these kind of “highlight” videos, since there are also more calm moments in a set and so much more music than just a few snippets. But this set went straight up like a 🚀. So no holding back in sharing this time. Thank you @itgwo for making this happen! 🌳✨ 🚢

All good things come to an end! With a little heartbreak we are announcing that this will be the last edition of Parotia at Ekko 𓆸.The place where it started over three years ago. Every edition was created with full attention and so much love for detail; and that’s exactly what we’ll give you one more time: one final dance filled with love ♡. It may not come as a surprise, but to keep things transparent, we like to share that these are challenging times for clubs and promoters. Some are closing their doors, while others are fighting to keep up with ticket sales and searching for ways to continue hosting great nights. The landscape is changing, and it hasn’t been easy, not for Parotia either. This night was never about pushing a specific sound or forcing a direction. It grew from a collective desire, a mutual feeling. So now it’s time to move forward. This isn’t the end of Parotia; it’s just the closing of this chapter at Ekko. We’ll stay patient and wait for the right next opportunity, so we ask for your patience and to join us for this special edition.We will celebrate this with a family line-up! Since the very first day Irma has been part of the Parotia team, so there was no doubt that she had to play this final edition. And 3 years ago Ajuma played the first record, so it only feels right that she’ll be the one to close this chapter by playing the last one too.

After 4 years I’m back at BKS! The festival where I spent many years behind the scenes as a volunteer coordinator and a stage design builder. In 2022 I played the closing guest slot on Sunday, that was one of my very first big stage experiences. I feel honored to be invited AGAIN by @djstpaul . I can’t believe it’s already 10 years ago since we worked together at Tivoli for the first time? And the fact that BKS takes place just 15 minutes from the city where I was born, makes it feels like home to me. Hope to see you there!✨🌙

Exactly one year ago today my love and I got the key to our new house. Since then, I’ve invested almost every minute to turn it into a peaceful home 👩🏼‍🔧. It was a year filled with: 6 am alarms, early hardware store visits (and discussions about not selling female working gloves), espressos, living without a working bathroom for months (thanks to the sweetest friends for letting us use their shower 🚿), digging 30 cubic meters of clay, countless wheelbarrow walks, plaster boards, overstimulated brains, containers, days hunting on marktplaats (and driving towards these finds), patience, waves of anger, hyperfocus, 25 kg cement bags (why so heavy?), stones, 1,000 decisions, muscle soreness, tiles, banged-up vans, budgeting spreadsheets, countless 11 pm material orders, and most importantly: cuddles ❤️. Before this adventure, my renovation experience was limited. My biggest skill is that when I take something on, I do so with full dedication. That’s how I learned this year about electricity, tiling, plumbing, paving, sealing, plastering, bricklaying, woodworking, insulating, you name it! I took this opportunity with both hands; maybe I’m one of the rare people who actually loves renovating?! Must have inherited it from my dad, since he was helping every week ❤️. Meanwhile, I kept playing a lot, which helped release tension and step out of the renovation bubble. I have to admit, sometimes I was exhausted before starting, but the music and dancers always lifted me up 💖. Music can be great therapy (and sometimes hard work!). Today feels like a milestone. I struggled all year to find moments to relax, it’s a lifelong challenge for me and this period even more: there is ALWAYS something to do. Before we moved here, we decided to build a studio in our garden (with a small 🛀, maybe I can finally relax there!), thanks to Pieter for building the base! A space where I can work, prepare gigs, invite friends, and sleep. It’s nearly done. So in a few weeks I can finally unpack my records, after building all the furniture (why buy it if you can build it?). I’m so happy to invest more time in music again soon! 🌸 Will share the studio when it’s done!

After a long, but worthwhile wait, Parotia is back at Skatecafe on February 21 ♡. This time joining forces with Nusantara Beat - an amazing band who combine their love for traditional Indonesian music with their own style. Big tip!! To make sure to keep you moving all night long, we have invited a handful of wonderful dj’s in the other rooms. Get ready for EG, Pala.G, Sekan, Cempake and Ajuma. The second chapter of my residency at @goldener.reiter is coming up this Friday, and I’ve been quietly looking forward to this one. My musical sister @ajuma____ is coming all the way from the Netherlands to play the main set. Sharing the booth together always feels like coming home. ✨ We’ll open the night with a b2b from @leomfa & @mikeygeemikey , two Munich staples whose deep taste and warm energy always set the perfect tone.
