Interested in independent publishing, bold design, and unconventional creative careers? Then join us and Aaron L. Beebe of Plastikcomb Magazine for a discussion about creating an art magazine, embracing experimentation, and forging your own path in design. A design school dropout, founder, and self-declared art director, Aaron launched Plastikcomb Magazine as an independent publication dedicated to contemporary art, international artists, and visually bold editorial design. Inspired by 1990s icons like Raygun, the magazine blends interviews, collage, typography, and unexpected layouts into something playful, disruptive, and entirely its own. Come hear Aaron share the story behind the magazine, the ideas that shaped it, and what it means to create bold, creative work on your own terms. 🗓️ Thurs, April 9, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM 📍 dialog, 1001 N Central Ave, Phoenix 🎟️ Donation-Based Ticketing 💌 RSVP on Eventbrite - link in bio @aigaaz @typethursdayphx @cut.paste.phx @wastedinkzinedistro @phxforge @dialogphx @aigadesign

Interested in desert storytelling, sketching, and nature exploration? Join design professor Michelle Fehler (@nahimsa_design ) and illustrator/designer Eric Torres (@ericimagines ) for our first biomimicry walk, blending observation, storytelling, and hands-on sketching in one of the most visually rich landscapes around us. We’ll explore how desert plants, patterns, and systems thrive in this unique climate, then slow down to sketch, journal, and translate what we see into creative insight. This is part nature walk, part studio practice, and part quiet conversation with the land. No previous experience needed. Come curious, bring your sketchbooks, and leave with fresh perspectives, new marks on the page, and a deeper connection to design that is rooted in life itself. 🗓️ Sat, Mar 21, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM 📍 Papago Nature Trail* 🎟️ Donation-Based Ticketing 💌 RSVP on Eventbrite - link in bio #PhoenixCreativeCommunity #AIGAAZ #AIGA

AIGA proves that community isn’t a place — it’s people. It’s about showing up as you are, sharing what you know, learning what you don’t, and making space for others to do the same. Whether you’re just starting out or decades in, you don’t have to “arrive” to belong - you belong from where you are. #AIGA #Community #Belonging #DesignCommunity #CreativeCommunity Sticker art by @ericimagines

The Phoenix creative community is incredible. Thanks again to Jaime Munoz and our incredible panel: Ben Bednarz (@phxforge ), Angelique Kane (@phoenixcenterforthearts ), and Chad Campbell (@dialogphx ) for sharing such honest, thoughtful perspectives, and to @dialogphx for hosting us in such a welcoming space. #AIGAAZ #PhoenixCreativeCommunity

Huge thank you to Cory Skaaren and the AIGA Arizona Chapter for the invitation to join such an intentional panel last night. As we navigate Black History Month, I felt it was the perfect moment to ground our discussion in the African philosophy of Ubuntu, the Nguni Bantu belief that “I am because we are.” It’s a reminder that our humanity is inextricably bound up in one another. There’s a well-known proverb that says: “If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” In the arts, we aren’t sprinting for a solo finish line; we are running a marathon of collective enrichment. That’s exactly what we are striving for at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. We aren’t just a building; we are a hub for building community through shared creativity and mutual support. One moment from the Q&A really stuck with me. An audience member asked about my motivation and my “why.” The truth is, I once had a family that leaned heavily on community resources for enrichment. Those programs weren’t just “extras” for us; they were lifelines that unlocked many doors and opportunities. Now that I find myself in a “position of power,” I feel a profound responsibility to pay that forward. I will always advocate for the arts because accessibility is vital to any thriving community. If the arts aren’t accessible to everyone, they aren’t truly serving the community. Let’s keep going far, together. #Ubuntu #CommunityFirst #AccessibilityInArts #PhoenixCenterForTheArts #IAmBecauseWeAre
