Type Thursday Phoenix returns to Dialog on Thursday, May 28, for another evening of typography, design, and creative conversation.
Type Thursday is a welcoming space for designers, students, educators, and creative thinkers to share in-progress work, explore ideas, and grow through thoughtful critique. Whether you’re deeply into type or simply curious about the role it plays in design, you’re invited to join the conversation.
We’ll start with time to connect, then move into our signature TypeCrit, where presenters share works in progress, and the room engages in open, supportive dialogue.

When we talk about A Thousand Wishing Cranes, people often ask us what they can do to help.
There are many ways to support this project, but the thing we feel most deeply is when people believe in what we’re doing.
We believe so strongly in this project that when people connect with the idea it becomes a ripple, a truly felt ripple that moves from one person into another.
Moments of pure magik ✨
When we met Chad at dialog in downtown Phoenix, we had one of these magik moments and he offered his beautiful space as a home for our first 108 cranes.
We found a Kindred Spirit in Chad and you can now find us Thursday afternoons at dialog, drinking Honey Bees and meeting the Phoenix community.
This is one of those magikal third spaces that creates community through hospitality and good old fashioned human connection.

If yes, then join us at the next EXUBERANT EXPRESSION THEMED OPEN MIC returning to @dialogphx on Saturday, April 25th @ 5pm!
THEME # 11 OF 12: “CHILDHOOD INSPIRATION” - A nostalgic journey into a time capsule of sounds and music that we were brought up with during our youth.
CHALLENGE: Sing your favorite song from childhood Karaoke-style OR sing an original song referring to memories about your upbringing.
We will be joined by our talented featured artist from last year! :
Skyler Jade ( @skylerjadelive ), an epic acoustic performer & singer who loves tapping into the inner-child by bringing not only captivating originals, but beautifully expressed covers as well.
We also have a FEATURE’S PICK handpicked by miss Skyler Jade herself! :
The creator of @evokeartevents - Maya Dzwil ( @mayadzwil ) a multi-talented artistic musician who plays multiple instruments and is also a very talented painter who will be bringing the Evoke vibes alongside live painters and vendors to join our open mic for extra inner child fun!
Performers:
-This event is open to poets, comedians, musicians, & performers of all kinds.
-Bring an original song, cover, chant, choreography, magic trick or any special act that aligns with the theme!
-Only 20 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis.
-Please limit your performance to under 5 minutes to ensure everyone has a chance to perform. 👍🏽

Last week at dialog, Ray Phoenix joined Type Thursday for an evening centered around design, conversation, and community. Over complimentary Ray Phoenix lattes, crafted by dialog in celebration of our newest building just a few blocks away, guests gathered to connect, exchange ideas, and hear from speakers across the creative field.
As part of the evening, Megan Hershman, Design Director at RAY, and Anaïs Cooper Hackman, Programming and Partnerships Director at RAY, shared the vision behind Ray Phoenix and the role architecture, art, design, and cultural programming play in shaping life within the building. The night gave a glimpse into the kind of connection and creativity that will be part of everyday life at Ray Phoenix.
