We are pleased to share that Edmonds + Lee Architects will be participating in the 2026 AIASF Marin Home Tours on Saturday, May 16. As part of the program, Robert Edmonds will join James Munden, Partner at Munden Fry Landscape Associates, for a moderated discussion with Liz Ranieri, FAIA, at The Crest Estate in Belvedere. Designed in 1967 by William Wurster, with landscape by Thomas Church, the residence is an important example of Bay Area modernism and the close relationship between architecture, landscape, and site. Edmonds + Lee Architects led the architectural renovation of the residence in 2014, working in close collaboration with Munden Fry Landscape Associates and Matarozzi Pelsinger Builders. Our work focused on carefully adapting the home for contemporary life while preserving the clarity, restraint, and deep connection to landscape that define the original Wurster and Church vision. The discussion will consider how architecture can evolve over time while remaining connected to its history, legacy, and the land it inhabits. We are honored to be included in this year’s tour and look forward to joining AIASF, the project team, and the broader design community for this special event. Grateful to AIA SanFrancisco for the opportunity to share the work of Gradient Matter and BuildTechVC as part of the Makers Series and to be in conversation about Echoes of Future Matter, our new collaborative project with Alexey Dubov. It was one of those evenings that reminded us why we do this work! Especially Lise de Vito’s questions, which brought us right to the heart of what we are about: the intersection of material innovation and poetic design intent - how advanced manufacturing, rooted in local context and humanity, can bridge the gap between the innovative technicalities of our profession and a narrative-based architecture and design that carries genuine emotional resonance. Thank you to the AIASF for inviting us and creating space for exactly this kind of conversation. #AIASF #gradientmatter #echoesoffuturematter #archlovers

We had an incredible sunday at the Embarcadero for our contextually informed sketch walk! A huge thank you to @tedbarrow for leading the way, his insights into the urban design of the Vaillancourt Fountain and the Embarcadero Center gave us a whole new perspective to put on paper!
