Am 26. Februar eröffnete die Ausstellung »Malplaquetstraße 33 – Jugend einer Monteurin« von Ahu Dural. Die Ausstellung nimmt eine Wohnung zum Ausgangspunkt einer künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung mit Familiengeschichte, Migration, Arbeit, weiblicher Solidarität und Aneignung. Montage erscheint hier nicht nur als manuelle Tätigkeit migrantischer Frauen, die in Produktionsstätten der Berliner Elektroindustrie im Akkord arbeiten, sondern auch als ästhetisches Verfahren und Prinzip. Her work explores the intersections of architecture, design, and identity, often through fragmented, spatial compositions that blur the boundaries between two and three dimensions. Here, assembly is not only presented as a manual activity carried out by migrant women employed on a piecework basis in Berlin’s electrical industry production facilities, but also as an aesthetic process and principle: Dural’s sculptures consist of basic forms – often made of wood or aluminium strips – which are assembled and combined with photographs, textiles or everyday objects.
