It’s everyone’s guilty pleasure. An exchange that occurs between two ( or more (; ) people, that can only happen when all parties are consenting and comfortable. Some might argue it’s just as, if not more, intimate than sex. And yet, when did spilling tea with the girls start feeling more taboo than sharing a bed? In this two-hour experimental workshop, we’ll reclaim gossip as sacred technology: a way to measure how information moves through our bodies, space, and time.  You’ll leave this workshop with tools on communal conflict resolution, a lighter heart  <3, and a deeper awareness of how information moves through our bodies, communities, and built environments.   *dress comfortably / bring a journal + pen.  Xoxo, Joy & Sika Side note from Joysi: This workshop was birthed out of need. A need to feel more connected in a lɐǝɹ way, to get tf out of our heads and into our bodies!! This work is precious…sacred, really. The love that went into this came from a deep and vulnerable place. I am so grateful, honored, and appreciative of my collaborator @sikabonsu_ for her tireless dedication to digging for more information, asking the questions that needed to be asked, and for sharing the ancestral wisdom she’s acquired in this life. To know Sika is to be immersed in love and a genuine appreciation for Black people and art. 🍵What’s Tea? Gossip. It’s everyone’s guilty pleasure. In this two-hour experimental workshop, we’ll reclaim gossip as sacred technology: a way to measure how information moves through our bodies, space, and time. You’ll leave this workshop with tools on communal conflict resolution, a lighter heart <3, and a deeper awareness of how information moves through our bodies, communities, and built environments. Joy Norton (she/they) is a versatile movement artist based in Brooklyn over the past decade. Their artistry is characterized by performances that engage with the concepts of time, endurance, and improvisational movement dynamics. Norton merges visual arts, sound, and occasional choreography to create immersive experiences that celebrate the complexity of humanity through a Black/queer lens. Sika Bonsu (she/her) is an artist and curator whose work is grounded in Black feminist thought. She creates spaces across image, text and exhibitions that honor Black feminine wisdom and advance self-determined ways of knowing. Carrying heritage from the Asante kingdom of Ghana, Bonsu’s practice is shaped by histories of migration and the shared aesthetic languages across the Black Diaspora. ⏳Ticket link in my bio.
