not captured: zoom meetings from halfway across the world, bruised knees, eyebags, scratched-up and callused hands, late nights, notion pages, long commutes home, snow on our eyelashes while rushing to rehearsal, sweaty clothes, beat-up shoes, carrying tinikling sticks across campus, pep talks, the endless notes, groupchat bickering, real-life bickering.
also not captured: “how are you today?” “tired…”, the food we shared, “we’ll be okay!”, the energy in every space we occupied, the vigor in all our voices everytime we brought it in for “FSAY? FSLAY!”, the carrying things for each other, the leaning on each other when the going got tough.
i’ve learned so much from watching and working with all of these people—from my reliable team leads up to our volunteers and performers. i learned how to lead while wearing my heart on my sleeve (still learning), learned how to make the most of it when the odds were against us, learned how to compromise and meet in the middle, and the most important: i learned how to trust that we could only do this together.
i’m so lucky to have had the most amazing team leads in the world:
@txfanny @jasmineeryle @_vvie__ @marcovincent15 @rishiamarie @myook_myook @snakks18 , with a props team that held the whole project up:
@mmaarrkkiyan @alexone05 @6skzy . we were blessed this year to have had such willing volunteers and incredibly talented performers—each and every one of you made us proud. no exceptions.
thank you for trusting me, fsay! thank you for taking risks, being brave, telling your stories, and sharing your time, talent, and presence!!!!! ♥️
