The Porch
Last year, we had the pleasure of designing, building, and installing this beautiful oak-framed porch in Hampshire. Now that the garden is in full bloom and the evening sun is on our side, we’re excited to share some recent photos.
All the timber was locally sourced from @listersawmills just around the corner from the site. We finished the structure with natural zinc guttering and an EPDM roof for durability and a clean finish.
It’s always a joy to revisit a project once it’s had time to settle into its surroundings
@_buildher
It was a real pleasure to be part of Buildher’s Transition to Placement event last week, alongside @mikebytehill and representing the @therewildings project.
The work Buildher is doing to empower women in construction, through their incredible training facilities in Nairobi, is very inspiring. We had the chance to meet and chat with the latest cohort of women as they transition from 6 months of intensive training into their on-site placements.
At @therewildings , we’re proud to be supervising and upskilling 46 women from Buildher, an all-female carpentry team building 7 timber construction homes in Tigoni, Kenya.
A fantastic project to be part of.
More updates on that build coming soon.

An outdoor kitchen space for @goatgrid in Lewes, East Sussex.
100% Oak, handcrafted using traditional timber framing methods.
Shelves for tools / cooking utensils, a food drying rack and a vegetable cleaning station make up the current layout. The introduction of a pizza oven and a worktop bench built by @stevo______________ is to come soon.
The space will be open this summer for cooking courses and pop up dining experiences that will run alongside walks and foraging courses in the incredible food forest that surrounds it.
Thanks to Josh & Caspar for getting me involved.
Lake Turkana supports a solid average temperature of 36 degrees. Clothes are purely warn to protect yourself from burning in the sun (unless your local and you like to wear jackets...).
The bikes come in at an average of about 150kg. Getting these on the roof of a Land Rover isn’t the easiest of tasks during the midday sun, even for 5 of us.
@milkissotastey took a fall and was unable to ride his bike back to the coast (he’s very much in one piece now). We managed to strap the bike down and get about 25kms before needing to get the bike off the roof and replace it for @jaccadeeble bike. It took us two days to go 400km, problems with the cars radiator were persistent until 8 Fruitella, a bar of soap and a bleeding of the radiator, just about managed to get us to our resting point for the next few days.
