WHEN THE PORCH LIGHT FLICKERS is an Afro-surrealist sci-fi following a skeptical programmer named NIA, who returns to her family farm to help care for her grandmother. But when confronted with supernatural activity, Nia realizes that Pearl’s strange stories of aliens and spirits may be rooted in some truth after all. Filming within the 30 mile radius of Chicago. Manifold was an incredible community project from 2019 to 2022 that thoroughly defined, to me, what intentional independent filmmaking can look like when underrepresented artists tell our own stories without waiting for permission. Through this project, I have met lifelong collaborators whom I look forward to continuing to work with. I hope that Miscellino will serve as the vehicle for continuing these artistic collaborations and partnerships. Miscellino Productions is an independent production company based in Chicago and LA, dedicated to developing and producing genre-bending stories made for and by the "Other". Our stories rarely fit into one box, and we don't need to limit ourselves to these constraints. Many past collaborators on Manifold continue to be a part of these upcoming projects, so instead of an "end", this chapter feels like a new beginning for some exciting and new stories We're at a point where storytelling feels uncertain yet more important than ever. I'm really excited to share some upcoming projects while showcasing some incredible artists on the rise, whom I'm deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to work with. I'm also excited to grow with you all, and I appreciate your patience as I set this foundation for a new beginning. I am so excited to share that I've been selected to attend GLAAD's @glaad Black Queer Creative Summit this weekend! It's an honor to meet such incredible artists and changemakers while ideating on the future of media creation and how to forge that together. It's also just a joy to connect with more Black queer folks 🖤 The Black Queer Creative Summit is an event dedicated to empowering, educating, and training Black LGBTQ+ creatives across multiple sectors of the media industry. I'm also so grateful to @courtastr0phe @thisiselodie and @dig3x for being incredible sounding boards while I pushed through my artist identity crisis re-applying for this, thank you 🙏🏽 A few years back, I applied and was accepted, but I couldn't attend while in school at the time. So this feels like an incredible second chance to meet incredible people, learn, and grow while having clarity on the films I produce, write and direct. And also, hopefully, a chance to update my headshot. #bqcs2025

The same systems of racial capitalism that enslaved and brutalizes Black people, murdered generations of indigenous people, fear mongers against immigrants of color and exploits cheap/free labor overseas is trying to justify racial cleansing in Gaza. History is watching us and our actions matter. To be a citizen of America requires the responsibility to hold our politicians and leaders accountable for funding this genocide. To be an artist in America requires crafting our work with integrity and working against misinformation in our media. These past 19 days are only a fraction of the violence Palestine has suffered through these past 75 years. Whether that's calling your representative, speaking up in your industry and community, attending protests, sharing information, silence is not an option.
