Our session on March 31st. Honoring our ancestors: a ritual of stories and poems.
We made a ritual having Andean coca leaves on the table offering our grandparents’ stories. The session was led by Thomas @tpscharff and Jennifer @sjluriganchina - Thomas started the session sharing about his grandparents and how they took part in his parents’ life-love history.
We also wrote short stories and poems recalling memories, we talked about them, we cried, we laughed, we loved! As part of our ritual, we shared our grandparents’ stories and wrote down their names on flashcards. Then, we brought our coca leaves and blew on them, being grateful for life and our ancestors. Each of us read aloud the names of our grandparents, putting them on our offering table. We finalized our ritual with a collective hug.
Thanks everyone! @guiyazbek@samueell2193@technically.emma
AddVerse had an incredible time at Yuma: Dancing Down the Magdalena River on March 28, 2026, at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in Pittsburgh. What a vibrant, powerful celebration of Colombian culture—full of movement, music, and joy.
Directed by Melissa Teodoro, the performance brought together artistry and community in such a meaningful way.
We’re especially proud to cheer on our friend and member Jadson Mendes @jadsonmds for his beautiful participation in the show. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do: to uplift art, community, and each other. We also congratulated Professor @jorge.enrique.delgado for his participation and role in the show.
Bravo to everyone involved—what a night.
