Every couple of weeks we ask a friend of ACRE to curate a playlist and design a cover for it. Playlist #007 ‘Rtyuio’ is curated by @hijklm_nopqrst Studio Nopqrst is a London-based design practice founded by Hong Kong-born designer Hamlet Auyeung. Working across cultures and mediums, the practice blurs the line between raw and refined, exploring the limits of graphic design beyond the surface. This playlist is a selection of tracks that played on heavy loop throughout the covid lockdown. It reflects a time of ‘connected isolation’ and mirrors the practice’s ongoing interest and exploration in dualities. We’ve designed the film titles and campaign for ‘To Close Your Eyes and See Fire’, a feature documentary directed by Nicola von Leffern and Jakob Carl Sauer. @tocloseyoureyes.film @nicolavonleffern @jakobcarlsauer @goldengirlsfilm Beirut lies in ruins. After the explosion in the city’s port, collective trauma rises to the surface. How can life succeed after such a tragedy? The film carefully observes the following three years and zooms in on the lives of Aya – a Syrian refugee girl, Selim – an activist and painter, the Aladdin family – mourning a tragic loss, Yasmin – picking up calls at a suicide prevention hotline, and Andrea – who still believes in the city’s spark for change. Meanwhile, a smoldering fire keeps on lingering in the port’s silos like a cautionary tale. Is it time to leave? The film premiered at the Zurich Film Festival in 2024 and has since been awarded with the Max Ophüls Price for ‘Best Music in a Documentary’ and the ‘Film Critics’ Award Best Documentary’.

@acre_studio was commissioned to develop the film’s title design and visual identity across all promotional collateral. Our approach centred on the interweaving of the film’s English and Arabic titles into a bespoke typographic lockup – echoing the cultural and linguistic dualities of the region. The typography is both formally restrained and emotionally resonant, sitting in quiet dialogue with Jakob Carl Sauer’s precisely composed cinematography.

From on-screen titles to posters and festival materials, the design honours the tone of the film: poetic, urgent, and deeply empathetic. Marking the Austria premiere on September 5th, @hvob_official will release the complete soundtrack, with the title track Home and its accompanying music video already out on youtube. A worldwide streaming release date will be announced after the film finishes its international festival circuit. Every couple of weeks we ask a friend of ACRE to curate a playlist and design a cover for it. Playlist #006 ‘Mixed Bag’ is curated by @khyatitrehan @khyatitrehan is an Indian graphic designer & 3D visual artist based in New York. Khyati’s work is textural, playful and emotive, though her love for the sciences has a tendency to sneak in. Khyati’s career has seen her work across disciplines, drawing inspiration from the context of the work and often exploring the edges of all things visual for the likes of the Oscars, New York Times, Apple, Google and Instagram. She currently works at the Google Creative Lab in NYC.

We’re delighted to introduce the Garment Lifecycle Map. Commissioned by the @designmuseum for the Tomorrow’s Wardrobe exhibition and developed in close collaboration with textile researcher @laetitiaforst the tool guides visitors through each step of a garment’s life. It allows them to pinpoint how decisions made at the start of production impact the garment’s environmental footprint throughout its entire lifecycle. 🔗 Head to our website to see the full project (link in bio). Tomorrow’s Wardrobe showcases the urgent research and innovation taking place across the UK to rethink how the world of fashion works, and it brings together a diversity of designers from across the industry who are revolutionising the way we create, make and wear clothes. The display is curated by Future Observatory, the Design Museum’s national research programme for the green transition. It’s accessible for free and will run until August 2025. We’re delighted to share the new identity we designed for @prose.london , a creative company working alongside a network of high-profile talent – from literature to the silver screen – to deliver quality writing, beautiful design and compelling film production for iconic brands such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Prada. The identity draws its precepts from a bespoke logotype. Inspired by historic British type design, the elegant word mark is characterised by its soft serifs and calligraphic feel. The logotype is supported by parentheses, created by dividing the ‘O’ into two segments, making for a versatile framing device to dynamically present the agencies output across their website and social media channels. 🔗 Head to our website to see the full project (link in bio) Design team @acre_studio @oliver.hae @jonas.zieher #brandidentity #graphicdesign #motiongraphics #typography #designbyacre
