So happy to be home for two days after travelling for five weeks. Glorious blue sky and mauve wisteria scenting the air.

First day on a new film, shooting in Liverpool . . . .during the final months of my wife’s Life, the kindest, most compassionate couple, were Nikki Lunt and David Maguire, both native Liverpudlians 👏👏❌⭕️❌😇😇😇

First visited Corfu, 43 years ago - first summer holiday that I shared with my future wife, Joan. A Mancunian woman at an adjacent taverna table proclaimed ‘I’ve come a very long way for this glass of Butari Rose, Stavros’ which we relentlessly quoted at one another every time we landed somewhere on holiday. Like toddlers revelling in the repetition of a nursery rhyme. Filming here today where the mountains and sea remain the same, reassuringly underlines how nothing changes, yet everything does!

HOTELS WITH HISTORY SEASON 2 COMING SOON 💫 I have loved sharing hotel stories with my @hotels.with.history co-pilot @richard.e.grant as we record Season Two. I particularly enjoyed reminiscing about what makes a hotel great…. The service of course. And why we have a shared love of the Riviera’s most iconic hotel. Coming soon ✨

So sad to hear that Nathalie Baye has died. We worked together in FOOD OF LOVE written & directed by Stephen Poliakoff in 1997. Blessed with both inner and outer beauty and not a scintilla of vanity - compassionate, kind and very funny. Au revoir, mon Amie, Nathalie ❤️❤️❤️💔💔💔💔❤️❤️

Free day in Rome & returned to the Opera House for the first time in 57 years, having been brought here by my Father when I was 12 in 1969 to see Gwyneth Jones in AIDA. Fortuitously saw the ‘Treasures of the Pharaohs’ exhibition just before hand - Beverley Ann O’Brien commented below that she too saw this production and remembered seeing elephants on stage. Confirming that I didn’t imagine that!!! AND Jacopo Gilone _il_gilo_ who supplies opera costumes messaged that I can tour backstage the next time I visit Rome - the magic of Instagram connecting people!

Moody skies on the Italian coast in Sabaudia. Still-Life looking Stone pine trees, the exhilaration of the sea and the melancholy of Mahler’s 5th masterpiece.
