REFLECT is open to view! My first public artwork, developed for the #SubiBlooms festival 🌸💚🪩
Moving from working with small delicate flowers to a big, weather proof outdoor installation is a big leap and I’ve loved the creative journey to get here! Huge effort from the team to bring this to life, thank you to everyone involved 🫶🏻
The three modules are interactive in their own ways, so I invite you to connect, reflect and discover moments of wonder. It’s super kid friendly so bring your little ones along to spark their creativity 🌸

Had THE BEST morning exploring Osaka Tsurumi Flower Wholesale Market with the coolest local florists Kanami and Yoshitaka from @yadorigiwedding !
The market starts at 4am and is all wrapped by about 8:30.
A lot of flowers are sold by auction to larger shops, and there’s also a good selection of wholesalers for florists to buy from.
The ‘flower stall’ section is smaller than Sydney Flower Market (but Sydney doesn’t have an auction on site so there are more growers with stalls in comparison), but still a great range.
Saw heaps of cool flowers that we don’t get access to in Sydney! Lots of super cute delicate things and fun colours. And apparently Australian native flowers are very popular here! Not much in the way of tropicals and orchids overall looked local not imported.
Pricing a lot cheaper than Australia for some things, and comparable for others (for example, one Cymbidium stem costs about 3x more in Australia). This is part of why floral design is such a localised industry - every region has different options and pricing so there is no ‘standard’ option.
The sundries supply is WAY more extensive than at Sydney Flower Market (I think Sydney is really lacking in this department in general - for the record Perth also has a way better sundries situation in their market zone).
Such a treat to get to experience another flower market! Thank you @flamingokanami@yadorigiwedding for sharing your market so generously with AF 🫶🏻🦋🌸🍀✨ if you need cool flowers around Osaka they are your crew!

Never able to be repeated but I wish 🥲🌸🍀🦋✨ the beauty (and tragedy) of flowers (especially when you customise them with one-of-one paint jobs lol). Some ephemeral favourites xAF
Wanted to make these for an event recently but client thought they were a bit weird…which I think is kinda always the point 🤙🏻🩶⚡️
I come from a fashion background and always have a little chuckle when style details from subcultures make their way into the mainstream (usually via a luxury house, after being explored by independent designers who actually have connection to the culture)…weird is only a matter of timing.
If you’ve ever wondered how I get the chrome roses so shiny this is the tutorial for you!!
I have tried and tested this technique to make super metallic silk flowers, and have a few secrets to reveal:
🥀 this works best on plain fabric faux flowers. Not real touch or anything with a latex or velvet surface
🩶 I personally use @montana_colors@mtnaustralia chrome paint (not sponsored it’s just excellent paint!)
✨ the real trick is adding a layer of varnish between coats of chrome. This makes a smooth barrier so the metallic paint doesn’t just soak in to the flower
The painting process is a bit of a mission as you have to do it over a few days, but if you’re a florist who does events I reckon totally worth the time to make a set to use as feature flowers in installations. They’re versatile and can be easily refreshed with a quick spritz of chrome in the future.
Let me know if you try this, would love to see what you make! 🩶 #acidflwrs
Weird flowers for all occasions 🦋✨
@acid.flwrs early arrangements used only orchids - sculptural forms in surreal colours that challenged traditional expectations of ‘pretty’ flowers. It took some convincing to get Sydney on board with smaller floral moments for events (orchids are expensive so you can’t fill a room in the same way as other flowers!) but had some truly amazing early clients who saw the vision 🖤
Over the past few years AF has incorporated broader natural and structural materials to create event arrangements, creating highly textured floral forms as a base for painted orchids, or with no orchids at all.
An evolution of aesthetic, within the same world 🪐🥀✨
PS. Still waiting for the right moment to bring out the blue style at the end en masse - let me know if you have the right event for this!
Vacuum sealed flowers left over from installation at @melbflowershow … I made these to reference the existing 100,000+ hybrids of orchids and our obsession with rarities.
Gotta catch ‘em all 🦋 (and currently slowly decomposing on my studio wall)
