Happy Anzac Day. Very grateful.
Went out on the April Misogi mission with these impressive lads and I can say this was the biggest test I’ve faced so far.
We set out to hit 100km, leaving Sydney and heading towards a burial site north of Gosford.
We didn’t get the full distance — 50km in — but I wouldn’t call this a fail.
18 hours straight.
Tracks no one’s touched in who knows how long.
Climbing close to 1.5km elevation on grade 5 terrain.
30kg+ on the back, some carrying more.
It was fucking brutal. On the body and the mind.
I learned more about myself in those two days than I have in years. And quitting when it gets hard… that’s just not in me.
What a privilege to do this mission with these guys and end up in places most people wouldn’t even think to go.
When people asked why, the answer was, because.
