OUT NOW: the full album by @ali__radio & @charifmegarbane exploring the musical cross sections between lebanon and indonesia is finally out today. the vinyl and cd come with an extensive booklet with liner notes about the creation of the album and its historic referrences, photos and credits. all songs written and produced by ali and charif last year at @bigsnuffstudio and with @ginogroeneveld as a guest on percussion. you can listen to the album on all plattforms. the clear vinyl version is sold out but the regular version is still available and in indonesia there is an exclusive color way available via our friends from @atlas.recordstore

CHARIF MEGARBANE x ALI (HABIBI FUNK 034): We’re happy to share the first single „Ombak, Ombak“ from our first release for 2026, „Tirakat“ by @charifmegarbane and @ali__radio . Full album is dropping on the 20th of march, as always there is a limited edition clear vinyl which is already available for pre-order. Tirakat brings together Jakarta-based trio Ali and Lebanese composer and multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane in a collaboration shaped by long-standing cultural exchange between Indonesia and the Arab world. Ali’s blend of 1970s Indonesian psychedelic funk, Melayu traditions, disco grooves and Arab melodic forms meets Charif’s long-running exploration of cross-regional sound, rooted in a shared musical vocabulary rather than genre. Rather than approaching the project as fusion, Tirakat reflects a way of making music that feels already interconnected. Melodies, grooves and textures move fluidly without signalling their sources, grounded in a performance-led process shaped by intuition, repetition and trust. Western instruments are played through techniques and sensibilities formed in Indonesia and Lebanon, emphasising circulation of influence. The title Tirakat refers to a Javanese practice of discipline, patience and devotion, derived from the Arabic tariqa (“path” or “method”). This layered meaning mirrors the album’s focus on process and continuity. The result is a record that feels both contemporary and timeless, where Indonesian and Arab sounds intersect naturally through groove, texture and melody. A special year-end bike re-build: Pegasus Japanese Randonneur for our friend @absarlebeh 🤙🏻 New year, New bike — Happy New Bike Day! About this Bike: 神金自転車商会 (Jingane Jitensha Shōkai) a legendary bicycle shop in Chōfu, Tokyo, whose name still frequently comes up in classic bike community discussions. According to archives and conversations on the Tokyo Cycling Club forum, this shop was known for accepting custom orders for frames and complete bicycles under the Pegasus name, built to each rider’s request at the time. A piece of history born from Japan’s culture of craftsmanship and custom cycling. We rebuilt this bike using vintage parts that can be considered fairly rare items. It features a 3×6-speed groupset from the first-generation Shimano Deore (1980s), a wheelset from @cyclesgrandbois wrapped in Fairweather Cruiser 650B x 42 tires, the braking system uses @cyclesgrandbois cantilever brakes, The Milan. A Selle Italia Flite Special saddle custom by @rekti_yoewono , and of course the distinctive classic randonneur cockpit, @nitto_handlebar_works with its iconic exposed cable routing, The "Kabel Ngaceng".
