Noodlz - Process Reel 🔊 ___ For a year and half or so, I’ve naturally struggled to make time for personal projects, instead finding myself dwelling on industry changes, AI, tools, hardware and expectations, I passively consumed instead of creating for fun. Though, I still sketched daily, to get some headspace, without any pressure or much planning, many remained sketches, but a few, initially inspired by the deceivingly minimal yet insane work of @jonathan_djob_nkondo , I was itching to bring to life for myself. Over a year had passed by this point🥲. During that period I tried more with composition, 3D and 2D animation to keep developing my creative and technical skills, for fun - in between work and life. This is a process reel of all the tests, designs, animations and messy parts of it. The Reel 2022 🔊 ___ Finally made some time to edit my first reel, showcasing my favourite bits from personal experiments and a few client projects I had the opportunity to be part of in the past year & a half (or so), all to the beats of Imagine Dragons’ Trouble. Some of my fav shots + BTS from Buff's recent BTB opener, tinkering in 2D and 3D for longer than I probably needed to.... Tackling every shot was quite daunting, but also a dope creative and technical challenge throughout, with a couple of things I wish I’d done better/differently... but at the time, I’m glad I got the opportunity to just figure stuff out and experiment. BTB '25 Opener 🔊 Look Ma! We made an opener ⚆_⚆ ___ Every year, BlackLine hosts a global event called BeyondTheBlack, gathering thousands of finance and accounting pros under one roof to learn, inspire and share insights. In the autumn of 2025, they partnered with @buffmotion for their event opener and a walk-on sting for speakers. I got to contribute to the opener with early visual ideas, storyboards and even some final-look styleframes, alongside the *amazing* @margaritse , before finally animating every shot in it, with some additional help on 3D shots from @danielstewartmotion and @myung_motion The final opener, along with the walk-on stings (handled by @made.motion ) , were screened at the event in Miami in late 2025. Noodlz won an award ㋡ ___ This past October was a bit of a special one. Not only did I get to attend InMotion and meet some of my motion heroes at the Barbican in London town again, but at the end of the month, I was also flown to Adobe MAX, in Los Angeles, a city I didn’t think I’d ever get to experience anytime soon. A few months prior, @brianhermelijn suggested I entered Noodlz, a recent personal project, to @adobe 's Creativity Awards, eventually gave it a go in the hope I could at least snag a consolatory CC license, then kinda forgot about it….until someone from Adobe’s events team emailed about Noodlz being picked for the Personal Motion category - thought I was being scammed at first, but it slowly sunk in… I still have *loads* to improve on, but was reminded to celebrate the wins and Noodlz became what it became thanks to the sound designers @sizzle.audio , @avikmakesmusic and @a.j.m.orchestration - this award is yours too. Don’t think I’ve ever animated this much text before...but chipping away at this in the downtime was a pretty great opportunity to try some kinetic type ideas I’ve had for a while, and quickly testing out what worked and what didn’t with the 🎶. Some still feel too simple, some too fast or downright boring, but seeing them all dance together sure feels satisfying. Gotta catch up on some 🛌🏾 now. Motion Array ___ *Click* *click* 🖱️ Some of the shots I got to animate for @buffmotion 's Motion Array project, from a while back. Just about everyone in the creative team touched this project, and it was a welcome challenge coming up with different concepts to then present to the client(!). And eventually I got to try to inject some character into some hands and cursors. As part of the brief, several assets from MA's library were used to show the breadth of their platform. Noodlz Logo reveal 🔊 ___ By this point I really missed expressive and abstract 2D motion design, so I stumbled on some great references by Eli G and @lukebvrker a while back, that sparked some ideas for how I could begin bringing an old logo I'd made up, to life. This whole project had a lot of twists and turns, side-tracks and happy accidents, so wanted to convey some of that through my travelling noodlz and its final lockup. Noodl 10/10 - “Time’s Ticking”🔊 ___ Always on a schedule, optimising every moment for output… that's no way to live is it?😶‍🌫️ By this point I’d animated things a bit out of my depth, so longed for something simpler, based on some 2D references from my growing stash. How far could I push some clock hands? And what if the clock face was an *actual* face? Where is this going? Dunno, but it was fun to play with 🤷🏾‍♂️ Still not sure how well I’m using Joysticks n Sliders, but that lil face was fun to animate. Noodl 09/10 - “Bouncing Back” 🔊 ___ Sometimes you lose yourself, but genuine play and exploration might just build you up, even better when done with others 👋🏾. Dynamic camera angles, follow-through, basic acting, and a ton of bending were explored with this one. #c4d wouldn’t always cooperate… but when it did, it was actually nice pretending to be a 3D animator.
