Construction Safety Week may be coming to a close, but our dedication isn’t going anywhere. This week has been full of many exciting demonstrations and events. In Washington and California, our project teams explored and trained in elevated work and fall prevention, safer boom lift usage, heat illness prevention, mental health support, situational awareness, and so much more.
The days were filled with tasty treats, team meals, and practical giveaways that brought energy and enjoyment.
But our safety commitment doesn’t end here. Safety excellence remains our priority every day of the year. This week simply provided us the opportunity to celebrate our safety culture while strengthening our knowledge together.
Thank you to all our staff, trade partners, and sponsors who helped lead these events, and to everyone who participated. You made this week a resounding success! Thank you for being committed to safety, for everybody, everywhere, everyday.

Hats off to our trade partners. Right in the middle of Construction Safety Week, we’re also celebrating National Skilled Trades Day, honoring the talented people working beside us to turn plans into reality. Without their expertise and grit, our projects would remain just ideas on paper.
Skilled trades are some of the most rewarding careers out there, and today is also a chance to point younger people towards trade schools and the doors they open up. The work is hands-on, the craft runs deep, and the people who do it shape the world the rest of us live in.
To all our trade partners who bring specialized talents to every project, to our Abbott carpenters and craft professionals, and to every tradesperson out there keeping things going, THANK YOU. Your skills and determination shape our daily lives and everything we build.

Construction Safety Week is here! Safety is our constant priority—every minute of every workday—but this week gives us a special opportunity to focus on it together. We’ve got a full week of learning and celebration ahead, enhancing safety awareness and having some fun along the way. When serious commitment meets real connection, that’s when our safety culture really shines.
Safety demonstrations, mini trade shows with new equipment, plenty of food (donuts, ice cream, team lunches), and exciting raffles—all designed to make safety engaging, not just another requirement. There's so much to look forward to!
A special thank you to everyone participating in events across our jobsites this week. Your commitment doesn’t go unnoticed. When you choose to prioritize safety, you create a ripple effect that protects every person working alongside of you. That deserves recognition, and maybe an extra scoop of ice cream. Here’s to building safely, together!

A beautiful day to celebrate our planet. This Earth Day, we’re celebrating what happens when a client sets the bar high and a team rolls up its sleeves to meet it.
On a recent office tenant improvement, our client wasn’t interested in the bare minimum. While LEED Platinum calls for 50% waste diversion, they mandated 90%. We hit 91%!
That meant salvaging 250+ doors, roughly 100,000 SF of ceiling and carpet tile, water heaters, and every restroom fixture for reuse. Through source-separated bins and meticulous tracking, 1,224 of 1,340 tons stayed out of the landfill, setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban construction.
Impressed by the results, the client is now partnering with Abbott to further refine and roll out these strategies across their global portfolio. Set the bar high, work together, do the thing. That’s how it’s done!
Happy Earth Day.

Keep going. We're wrapping up Women in Construction Week, where we've been celebrating and highlighting incredible team members from different departments. And we’ve got one more great story to tell.
Today Kirsten Paasche, Project Estimator, shares her story about how work in construction is more than just a job:
“I never anticipated going into construction, but I grew up with it in my life. My father was a millworker and worked for a specialty wood company in Portland, OR. As a child, I would go into multi-million-dollar homes with him during site walks. The smell of sawdust and power tools still trigger nostalgia of those days. When I completed my certification in project management at the University of Washington, I was left with the choice of an industry to pursue. My memories with my father influenced my decision to go into construction. Now I am estimating multi-million-dollar projects, just like my father.”
While WIC Week might be over, the appreciation certainly isn’t! The work keeps going, and women in construction keep showing up. We're so grateful for Kirsten and all the women at Abbott and across the construction industry who keep serving our industry so well, day after day. We hope you get some well-deserved rest this weekend!

Building together. We're continuing our celebration of Women in Construction Week, showcasing a few of our amazing team members from different departments who help shape Abbott.
Rucha Amale, Sr. Project Engineer, tells us how she forged her own path to join the excitement of construction: “Most of my family works in the design field, and I initially planned to follow the same path. I spent a few years working toward getting in water conservation design research (which I still explore on my own time). However, I found construction to be more dynamic and fast-paced, so I decided to make the switch. It also helps that construction tends to offer higher earning potential than design. 😉”
A career in construction often requires a sense of adventure. Thank you to Rucha, and to every woman who made the bold decision to choose construction and build better everyday. Your light shines bright.

Stronger together. Women in Construction Week is in full swing, and we're celebrating the incredible women across our teams who make Abbott what it is.
Today we're spotlighting Teresa Fait, Senior Project Manager, who made a bold move back to the field side of construction and never looked back.
Having been with Abbott for nearly 10 years, here's what Teresa shared about getting her start in construction: "I started my career on the design-side of the building industry, and after taking a hiatus, I wanted to return to the field-side where all the actual building happens! It is very gratifying to see plans on paper come to life and has been very empowering as a woman to be able to lead the operations team."
From blueprint to building, that's the kind of perspective that makes our teams stronger. Thank you, Teresa, for leading with purpose and bringing that energy to every project. And to every woman at Abbott and across the construction industry, your contributions shape this field in ways that will be felt for generations. We're proud to build alongside you.

Level up. Build strong. In celebration of Women in Construction Week, we're highlighting a few of our incredible team members from different departments who keep us leveling up and building strong.
This is Deborah Staehle, Accounting Assistant, celebrating 10 years with Abbott this year! When asked about how she got started in construction and what’s kept her in the industry, Deborah told us, “I heard about an opportunity at Abbott and applied. Simple as that! And the Abbott work culture and values have kept me here, definitely. It is the best work environment I have ever been in, and construction has so many interesting things going on at all times. I’m glad I’m here.”
We’re grateful for Deborah and for every woman helping to shape the future of construction. Thank you for bringing your best to our field.

GO HAWKS! On the heels of Sunday’s win, of course we’re celebrating the Seattle @seahawks . Several members of our team even had the pleasure of joining the victory parade and festivities on Wednesday. It’s not every day you get to celebrate your team’s second Super Bowl win in franchise history!
So in honor of our Seahawks, here's some of the work we've done at the Hawk's Nest and around Lumen Field. We love every chance we get to work on Lumen and celebrate our city.

Topping it off. We just celebrated the topping out of the @UCLA Sunset Canyon Recreation Center with our project team, a momentous milestone on our way to completion!
Replacing the original, seismically unfit structure, the new recreation center will provide expanded community and well being spaces for students and the local community. And maybe even host some Olympic and Paralympic Village activities for the upcoming @LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games!
Congratulations and thank you to everyone on the team for all your incredible work!
