Day Trip to Tallinn with ViCCA ☀️
Estonia treated us to beautiful sunshine… We started at Estonia’s first ‘drive-in’ art exhibition, under Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak). You can find works by Estonian sculptors Edith Karlson and Jass Kaselaan together with the historic bastion walls—definitely worth the visit to this car park!
After a long walk across the city under the sun, we landed at Kumu Art Museum where curator Anders Härm spoke with us about the exhibition “Triumph of Galatea: Art in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” and guided us through the show. The exhibition will remain open in the contemporary art gallery on the 5th floor of Kumu until 9 August, do not miss it!
Aitäh, Tallin! We are now fully inspired to get our grad show going. More info on that soon ;)
Today, as part of ViCCA Cooperative II, we spent the day visiting Art School Maa and HIAP in Suomenlinna. Our morning began at Art School Maa, where we had an engaging conversation with the school’s director and learned more about the program and its approach. We were warmly welcomed and invited to share a meal together, which created space for further exchange and informal discussion.
Later on we made our way to HIAP Suomenlinna to visit Amy Cheung’s studio as part of her residency. She introduced us to her practice and spoke about her current work and process. We wrapped up the day in conversation with members of the HIAP residency community, who kindly hosted us for coffee and an open discussion about their work and the residency program.

ViCCA Cooperative II course is about supporting ViCCA Students’ learning in a dynamic and responsive way that is relevant to the emerging demands of their research and/art practice. The emphasis is on open-ended discussions, peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, and the sharing and exploration of ideas together.

‘Coexistent‘ looks at how seemingly disparate environments, bodies, stories and entities can come together, with boundaries blurring and warping into new configurations. The exhibition is a collaboration between current and former ViCCA students from Aalto University, focusing on multidisciplinary approaches to contemporary art and curating.

Time Variations for Hope - a performative reading by Martina Šerešová
Sunday, 12 October 2025, 14:30 (duration ~ 20 minutes)
at Galleria Toinen Silmä, Sturenkatu 43-45, 00550 Helsinki
We warmly welcome you to a short performative reading hosted by Martina Šerešová and organised as part of the closing day of the Coexistent exhibition, showcasing works of current and former students of the Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art (ViCCA) programme at Aalto University.
The event follows a soft meditative structure and can accommodate ~8 participants in the gallery space. The seating will be provided on stools, cushions and blankets. You are welcome to stay for drinks, snacks and a chat afterwards, and to enjoy the last opportunity to see the exhibition! ✶⋆.⁺
Accessibility at Toinen Silmä Gallery:
There is a small step between the street level and the entry door to the space, so unfortunately the space is not completely accessible at the moment. The toilet is not accessible either.
Formlng a beautiful coherent collage of multitude of different questions and practices and as curated exhibition, interesting, innerly weirdly with one another communicating installation of separate works, ViCCA group exhibition Coexistent in Toinen Silmä studies blurring boundaries and them warping into new configurations.
Burning ritual, foraged memory, sprawling digital data, mangled hearts, mycelium on VHS, all floating in digital waste, in the echoes of the past, reverberations of beyond, curation and works of Coexistence presents ViCCA practices and programme's central questions: focusing on critical thinking surrounding art and pedagogy, public space, socio-cultural settings, offering practical experience in production of artistic events and exhibitions, interest on interdisciplinary collaboration and intersections of art, society, technology, philosophy and ecology. In a rich multicultural and transdiciplinary context, diverse backgrounds and practices melt into diverse, blooming, interesting whole, opening new paths and thinking, and most of all: celebrating life, togetherness and the vividness of present. ❤️

When will we see you?
What have you been up to?
You never tell us anything, we have no idea what is going on in your life!
Join us for the family dinner 6-8pm.
Super Supper explores how a prolonged family dinner can form an artificial framework for a public programme. An admixture of dramaturgically annexed elements, such as talks, screenings and various disruptions interrupt the pseudo-coherence of an extended family; unity needs an intermission as its counterpart, TV gives you the needed break. Humans form a dysfunctional family, which might not build on a mutual agreement but still holds a latent caring for each other. The lack of energy to meet is often replaced by a maximalized moment where everything and everyone are brought and forced into a shared table.
With Contributions by Harold Hejazi, Kemê, Jani Anders Purhonen, Niklas Toivakainen, Yuko Takeda and Timo Teern.
Be on time to reserve a seat at the table. Otherwise you are welcome to come by and join anytime for drinks and snacks.
