Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized that the primary threat we face today lies in the spread of destructive ideologies and narratives. He highlighted the UAE’s effective approach to countering this challenge through trust-building dialogue, values-based education, and firm legal frameworks that reject hate.
By altering destructive narratives today, we can shape the future. This approach is not idealism; it is a sound and strategic response.
Dr. Al Nuaimi further underscored that dialogue is not optional; it is the most durable and strategic pathway to influencing and reshaping the behavior of those who promote hate.

At the Munich Security Conference, the Conference of European Rabbis, in partnership with the Abraham Accords Institute and Karlspreis Foundation, hosted a vital dialogue on strengthening resilience against destructive ideologies, antisemitism, and foreign influence.
Our distinguished panel featured:
- H.E. Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chair of the UAE Federal National Council's Committee on Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs
- Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis
- Maria Kolesnikova, a Belarusian human rights activist and 2022 Charlemagne Prize Laureate
All three speakers converged on a central truth: resilience against hatred and authoritarianism requires more than institutions and laws. It demands engaged citizens, deliberate value-building, and the courage to defend what matters.
During our Lunch debate at MSC2026, with @europeanrabbis and @karlspreis_ac , we explored strategies for building resilience against destructive ideologies, antisemitism and foreign influence.
Our distinguished speakers were Chief Rabbi @pinchasgoldschmidt , the 2024 Charlemagne Prize Laureate; H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi @dralnoaimi , the Chair of the Committee on Défense, Interior and Foreign Affairs of the Federal National Council of the UAE🇦🇪; and Maria @kalesnikava , the 2022 Charlemagne Prize Laureate.
H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi @manaraccd emphasised that the primary threat we face today are destructive ideologies. The UAE demonstrates an effective approach to countering this threat by combining trust-building dialogue, educating values through education, and enforcing laws that reject hate. By altering the narrative today, we can shape the future. This is not idealism but a sound strategy.
Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt reminds us that the European Union🇪🇺 was initially established to ensure peace in Europe. However, Europe’s institutions alone are insufficient. They require the active participation of its citizens to combat disinformation and division, thereby maintaining stability.
Maria Kolesnikova, a Belarusian human rights activist and recipient of the Charlemagne Prize 2022, analyzed that Europe has taken peace for granted. We must remember how hard-won our freedom and security are. To maintain them, we must take action, not apathy. Kolesnikova demonstrates how engaging in culture fosters connections and effectively safeguards our values.

—
Rita Süssmuth, former President of the German Bundestag, has passed away.
She was a woman who never accepted boundaries—she transcended them.
As an active board member of the Abraham Accords Institute Germany, she demonstrated that peace and societal change are not abstract ideals, but the result of clear will and determined action. Her commitment to cooperation between Israel and its Arab neighbours was rooted in the belief that peace must be earned anew every day.
A scientist, politician, and relentless optimist, she taught us that change begins when we refuse to accept the status quo.
Her message was clear and uncompromising: dialogue is not negotiable. Reconciliation is not optional. And hatred has no place in our society.
Rita Süssmuth showed us how to turn words into action. Her legacy is not just a memory—it is a call to act. We thank her for paving the way. Now it is our turn to continue.
