❤️🖤💚What is Juneteenth? DID YOU KNOW👇
Enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were not informed of the Emancipation Proclamation until nearly two years later — when General Granger (namesake of Franklin’s Fort Granger) arrived to deliver the news.
That moment of long-awaited freedom happened around June 16–19, now commemorated as Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of resilience, justice, and the ongoing journey toward true freedom.
✨ Join us for the 21st Annual Juneteenth Celebration hosted by the @aahsofwilliamsoncounty

🖤 Black history lives in Franklin, TN
What started as a visit turned into a journey through untold stories: from plantations to preservation, from oppression to resistance.
I walked the grounds of Carnton, stood at the McLemore House, and felt the power of community in Hard Bargain and the Toussaint Louverture Center. And in the heart of town? A Freedom Statue standing where our ancestors were once sold.
This is the history we have to continue to highlight.
