Honoured to be part of the beautifully curated SUPERHOT SHOP by @DanielleBrustman and to have collaborated on this deeply hands-on project with @Curio_practice
Title: Abstain / femme stain
Drawing on Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, a space women retreated to not as exile, but as shared rest. That ritual is largely gone. Women are expected to keep moving, the cycle absorbed into the background of ordinary life. This work sits inside that absence.
The stain is not a flaw — it is a record. Of cycle, of body, of truth. The mess, the heat, the rhythm: not corrected or concealed, but woven by hand. Abstention here is not absence.
A sculptural chair. Silk panels hand-dyed and woven piece by piece: over and under, a single continuous form. The gradient moves through the stages of blood flow. Padded with cotton wadding and filled with recycled foam, the form becomes a contemporary metaphor for the Red Tent itself — a place of withdrawal, softness, shelter and feminine ritual.
