A chair hand woven by me and @a___be___g for Superhot Shop @daniellebrustman
35 metres of 100% silk, hand-dyed in layers of red. Allona and I worked through each length slowly. Building colour layer by layer, letting the material lead.
Over 100 individual warps, each one forming the structure and shape of the chair. The weaving was repetitive by design. Over and under, over and under. A rhythm that became its own kind of making.
Process-led, as always. Textural, sculptural.
The RED stain is not a flaw. It is a record of cycle, of body.

The Longest cushion freshly finished and I love it! I asked all my technicians to take a photo of me and the cushion in all the areas it spent time getting made.
A 1 of 1 King in Life in Stripes.
I diligently knot and join together hundreds of threads, to make a seamless yarn, guiding the colour as it moves. It is planned, but comes together in a way that is directed by what feels right in the moment itās knitted.
The result is an incredibly detailed piece, with an enormous amount of different yarns.
Making a piece like this, where the craftsmanship is in the time it takes, results in enduring heirloom. We love sharing these pieces, and cherish the thought of people welcoming them into their home.
The longest cushion in the factory.
Made once from wrapping a baby blanket around a cushion insert and loving the piece that appeared. From there a small/tiny collection developed.
The cushion inserts are all custom made, meaning you can choose the density from soft and lofty to firm and solid, whatever your body or home might need.
Moss green/yellow was the colour of today, knitted with dizzy purple, brown and bright pink with an undertone of orange. Life in Stripes cushions in the making.
The moss green yarn is a weaving yarn with a higher micron (well over 24), sitting beside my standard 19 micron merino. By touch itās obvious what is what. I love both, no wrong, no right, each serving its place in the market, but maybe the first time Iāve really seen them side by side like this.
It really encourages touch and questions.
Horses&Jugs, Jugs&horses
Itās been a moment between posts for me, honestly a little hiatus makes the heart, body and mind ready for 2026.
Run free horses but be well hydrated ;)
Another massive year.
It really was the year of 1-of-1 pieces and working more with my instincts.
We moved factories, which sounds like a small task, but it meant moving 80-year-old machines, slowly, piece by piece. The move took months.
Curio is a tiny team: me, plus a technician, a linker and a steamer. I feel so lucky to open the doors each day and hear the roar of the knitting machines, the smell of oil. To spend my time learning more about this craft, about this industry. Hearing stories of what it was like back in the day from the people I work with and run into along the way.
Most of the people I work with are in their seventies. Iāve always known how special that is, but as I get older and a little more realistic there are moments when I realise just how rare this is. Itās also a little crazy. As these people go, so do their skills. Weāve sadly missed the chance to capture so much already. I try to learn and absorb as much as I can, but itās impossible these experts are filled with decades of experience. They are deeply valued to me and shape the way I work.
There are always business goals and destinations I hope to reach. They can be motivating, but also crippling. As a small brand, you deal with copycats who have more of everything but what they donāt have, and canāt do, is move the way CURIO can.
Iāve said it over and over to close friends this year: itās about being wild, being weird, and not letting it get me down. My business is small, and I love that. Weāre agile. I love the people I get to work with, the stories, the craft, the endless knowledge. AND I am sooo lucky that I have clients and amazing customers that are here supporting us so thank you!
A giggle with loved ones, a book, one too many cookies, an early night.
Itās the time of year to enjoy, itās deserved.
Thank you for being part of a big year, I really loved it all!
