I am officially 35. 🎂February 1st. 1991🕯️ Though life is much different than what I would’ve imagined it to be at this age, I have learned so much, grown in many ways, continue to try to be a better person each day, and have shed many layers- honoring the medicine of Snake Energy 🐍, which those who know me well, know is at the core of my spiritual practices. I thank those who see me, support me and my creative/community practices, while hold space for me as I maneuver through this life as best as I can. This year, I will be shifting into more of an inward journey, focusing on projects I have had in the works, returning to other Creative Arts/ Media, and pursuing new Artistic Adventures. Expect to see some fun things outside of my DJing, and Community DJ classes. I started a music label back in the summer with my Business partner and true OG, @elcucuymusic - working with some amazing talent which I can’t wait to share out with the world within several projects to come. I will also be featured in a gallery space @imperfecta.xyz on Thursday Feb.5th, from 5-8PM, showcasing photos of me taken in my new apt. by the AMAZING @sophiespinelle 📸- who I am honored to have worked with, and be photographed by. This NYC trip has been everything i’ve wanted/needed and more! It’s been 5 years since returning home, and feel this trip really was one for a strong reclamation & rejuvenation of my-self. This place is home, and now at 34, I feel a deep appreciation and love for it like never before. The pace and magick of this place is wild, and it honestly reminds me of who I am, and where i come from. I’ve missed it a lot. I’ll make sure to post recaps of the trip itself soon, but for now- this is an appreciation post for life, friends, family, growth, the highs, lows and all the adventures in between. Playing @thelotradio was a dream come true and has been on the bucket list for a while! (even though you see my butt crack for a sec, and i messed up my last transition 🤣), still- i remembered to not judge myself too much, remember that i too am human, to let loose, laugh it off, dance my ass off and- had so much fun! That was the fastest 30 min of my life, but the best 30 min ever! In Portland, OR- ALoSo has been known to be a force for connection and change—building up collaborative spaces where LGBTQIA2S+, Women, and Black and Brown communities aren't just seen, but heard, respected and given the support to thrive. As a dedicated youth advocate/educator by day and a nonprofit instructor on the side, he’s shaping futures in real time by guiding local talent forward and uplifting the next wave of DJs. True to his Aquarian nature, ALoSo challenges the status quo—by breaking barriers, rewriting narratives, and amplifying the essence of balance, accessibility and equality. He's worked in radio stations, as well as in the nightlife scene as a DJ. Musically, he grew up exposed to various cultures, genres and sounds that helped shape his artistry and DJ skills. He's known for playing Caribbean, Globally inspired, World Club, House & Dance Music, infused with Raw, Street influenced Hip Hop, Rap, Tribal-Latin sounds, edgy Queer ballroom beats, and bouncey Jersey Club vibes- though his sounds can also equally take you on a sonic journey and range into ambient, downtempo, melodic yet experimental realms. He enjoys playing with textures in sound, and exploring both light and darker rhythms. Still, at his core- the sounds of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Freestyle, Dancehall & Reggaeton are what he grew up listening to as a child.

[ ALOSO ] 🎧 ALoSo is a queer, Latine (Nicaragüense) DJ from Jamaica, Queens, now based in Portland, OR. They’re the founder of FEVER DREAM PDX and an active part of Portland’s nightlife scene, helping build collaborative spaces within LGBTQIA2S+, Black, and Brown communities.
