Vaspaar Visits / Cretto di Burri, Fondazione Città di Castello
In the wake of the great masters who continue to inspire us with their works and teachings, today we present Burri's Cretto and the Palazzo Albizzini Foundation Burri Collection.
Burri's Cretto, also known as 'Grande Cretto,' is an extraordinary work of art created by the artist Alberto Burri located near Gibellina, Sicily, Italy.
The story of this work begins in 1968, when a devastating earthquake struck the Belice region, after this catastrophe, Alberto Burri decided to devote a significant part of his artistic career to the reconstruction and recovery of the affected areas.
Burri conceived the Cretto as an imposing open-air sculpture, using the concrete blocks that remained from the destroyed houses as material.
The Palazzo Albizzini Foundation Burri Collection, Founded in 1978, is an organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting the artistic legacy of Alberto Burri. In a different way to the Cretto it provokes the same complex emotions and profound reflections on art's capacity to transform devastation into beauty and to commemorate the tragic events of the past.
Vaspaar Visits / Casa Museo Remo Brindisi.
Following the trails of our many design journeys in Italy we found the rare gem that is the Museum/Home of Italian artist Remo Brindisi @casamuseoremobrindisi designed between 1971 and 1973 and immersed in the pine forest at Lido di Spina.
This was his place of solace designed by Nanda Vigo to realise Brindisi's vision. These interiors were where he always spent his summers and where one can clearly observe the many valuable connections he made as an artist with other creatives of the day. The space brings to the forefront Nanda Vigo's rigorous yet elite forms and furnishings.
