We won *the* prize!
Les Complices* has received the Förderpreis Kanton ZĂŒrichâa beautiful nudge from the universe (and the Kanton) that the ripples are reaching further than we thought.
The Government Council of Kanton Zurich awards these prizes annually to individuals or groups whose artistic or cultural work shows great potential.
This recognition goes to our newly appointed curatorial team: Kay Zhang, Paloma Ayala, Thi My Lien Nguyen, Engy Mohsen, tracy september.
Weâre humbled, giggly, and slightly suspicious that someone out there believes in our mischief this much.
This space didnât appear out of nowhereâit was conjured and cared for by many before us. We bow deeply to our ancestral beings: Andrea Thal, who shaped the foundations; Gökçe Ergör & Martina Baldinger (2015â2017), who kept the spark going; Gökçe Ergör & Reem Kadhum aka the Janitor (since 2018), who reimagined its edges and depths; and Trinity Njume-Ebong (2023â2024), whose touch endures.
To us, this prize is not just a pat on the backâitâs a shared celebration of collective dreaming, the value of slow brewing ideas, and a refusal to rush. Itâs a reminder that transformation takes time, and that joy, trust, and troublemaking can (and should) coexist.
Weâll keep experimenting, listening, conjuring, making room for messiness and possibility. Weâll keep centering the voices that systems often ignore. Weâll keep hosting, with all the complexity and care it takes.
Thank you to all our accomplicesâpast, present and yet to come.
Letâs keep making beautiful trouble,
The curatorial team of LC*

SONOSYNTHESIS is a collaborative project presented by MigrArt. Bringing together musicians from
Switzerland and other parts of the world, SONOSYNTHESIS is a musical exploration of
(trans)cultural, social and political intersections between musicians who are in community with each
other across borders. The project was born from a series of residencies that took place in 2023 with
11 different musicians. During the residencies the musicians Echoes across explored ideas around collective authorship, ânoiseâ, belonging, exclusion, care and community.
To launch the SONOSYNTHESIS album, a release tour across Switzerland will take place featuring
Yasmine El Baramway, NĂR, Kay Zhang, LEGION SEVEN, tracy september, and Siavash
Nameshiri.
Following on from her research trip in 2022, Swiss-based artist tracy september (@_tra_9 ) has returned to Accra for a three-month residency hosted at Terra Alta Foundation (@terraalta_gh ). During her residency, tracy is developing a sonic documentary project focusing on ritual and communion. đŻïž
âIn my time in Ghana Iâm exploring the sonic potential of ritual, communion and fellowship. Iâm interested in how they can be acts we can look towards as tools for survival in these rather unsettling times. I am spending my time taking in the many sights and sounds, doing research, field recordings, conducting interviews, organising food encounters and making music inspired by this incredibly special place; with the aim of gathering material to create a sonic documentary. Most importantly, Iâm expanding my community. In this moment of multiple crises and failing systems, weâre communing and co-creating new rituals for much needed fellowship.â

This Friday November 25th I will be co-hosting an incredible lecture series at @schauspielhaus.ch together with @meri_o711 . We have invited 3 Black women whose celebrated creative and innovative artistic practices intersect with discussions of race as well as appropriation. Afterwards there will be a panel discussion, and at the completion of the lecture series, there will be the opportunity to dance it out with my FAVORITE local DJ, @_tra_9 . This is the event I am most excited for in 2022, and I hope you can join us at @schauspielhaus.ch this Friday!!

tracy september (@_tra_9 ) is a South African musician, performer, producer, and music researcher based in Zurich, Switzerland. Her practice explores themes of memory and spirituality, which inform the new project she will initiate during her research trip at @abantuplusiam in Accra, Ghana.
"Ritual & Communion" serves as an exploration of music that is made and shared collectively, of the power of ritual to transform a moment communally. The goal of the project is to co-create a sonic documentary that captures a moment that amalgamates times.
