Learn more about SUNNY: Sunny da Soldier is a self-produced pop artist, performer, and multidisciplinary creative based in North Carolina, with a focus on musical arts and amplifying the experiences of Black femmes. With 7 original albums and EPs to their name — all self-written and produced — Sunny brings an authentic, high-energy presence to every performance.
Sunny has performed across the East Coast, from Philadelphia’s Underground Arts to Durham’s Motorco Music Hall, and most recently headlined Raleigh Pride 2025. Their work extends beyond music into visual art, photography, graphic design, and installation — including a commissioned interactive bike installation with Duke Arts (2024). Sunny has been featured in CNN, People, and the New York Post, and appeared in Donald Glover’s Amazon series SWARM (2023).
A two-time Keynote Speaker for the Transgender Day of Remembrance at Durham’s LGBTQ+ Center (2023, 2024), Sunny is not just a performer — they are a community voice and cultural force. Their upcoming performance at Duke University’s Fuqua Pride event continues a long record of bringing powerful, intentional artistry to institutional and community stages alike.

The Flower Full Moon is here 🌸✨ — a time of blooming, abundance, and stepping fully into your power. Traditionally named for the wildflowers that begin to burst open this time of year, this moon carries energy for growth, connection, and celebration in full color.
This Friday, we gather under that glow.

Meet one of your performers for this Black Trans Short Film Festival official after party this Saturday!: @cruelworldofkhx05
KHX05 (pronounced chaos), is a Gullah/Geechee multidisciplinary alt/alt-punk artist based in Durham, NC. Emerging from professional dance and Durham’s queer and art scene, KHX05 found their voice through movement, music, radical expression and revolution. Signed to Never Normal Records in 2020, they’ve since released two EPs, their debut album Menace to Society (2024), which displayed their musical versatility and toured internationally championing Black trans resistance, liberation and the fall of imperial empires.
See them live this Saturday at @the_pinhook alongside performances from @stormiedaie & @sunnydasoldier and music selections from @femithefemme & @gemynii !
CALL FOR ARTISTS! WE SET OUR TERMS is now open for submissions. All are welcome to submit, however this exhibition centers Black artists and engages Kink and BDSM through a Black lens—focusing on consent, power, and the right to define our own relationships to our bodies and each other.
We’re looking for work that engages:
control, release, intimacy, boundaries, negotiation, aftercare
This exhibition is presented by Be Connected Durham & Beyond in partnership with Zeitgeist Gallery & Bar, with artistic lead, Gemynii of The Conjure (@_theconjure ).
