SA2040 presents @airfieldmarfa , with support from @_space_available . Air Field is the Marfa-based duo of Phil Boyd and Nick Terry, who began collaborating in 2021, and have just released their third album, Air Field Vol. 2, on CIA records. The release combines raga style synthesizer drones and guitar improvisation with a sparse bed of tactile, springy found object foley work. This ensemble of textures sounds like two shamans on a weeks-long excursion into the endless skyscapes of the west. Heat-worn and dusted,the sentimental coolness of the desert night beckons, where the spirits of abandoned machinery have already formed a drum circle around a fire. Space Available is San Antonio native Shea McGilvray, a multi instrumentalist whose performances are windows into his dark ethos of romantic mysticism. This Day of the Dead performance marks his moniker’s 10th year, which began as an anonymous SoundCloud upload spree of acoustically-derived outsider house in the fall of 2015. A true archon of the 2010s Music Internet, McGilvray has only in the last few years emerged from the suburban chrysalis to unveil his emergent forms of compositional improvisation. These two complimentary acts will perform at Casa Pink, a labyrinthian south San Antonio compound functioning as gallery, venue, and studio space for artists Cruz and Olivia Ortiz, who, through the organizational efforts of Jack McGilvray, have offered their space for the evening. Space Available / INTERZONE - Live at The Echo Bridge, Quiet Control’s inaugural label release, is out now! Two full live performances recorded October 27th, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas under the beautiful, historic Echo Bridge on one tape. The recordings so beautifully capture the space and magic the bridge creates, with occasional crowd murmurings, bird and insect calls, and the sound of the San Antonio River living alongside these amazing sets from some of Texas’ best electronic experimentalists. Space Available (@_space_available ) is a San Antonio native whose utilization of the reverb under the bridge mixed with serene, hypnotic guitar loops truly made up the soundtrack of a dream of a lonesome Western traveler. INTERZONE (@wrldmchne @ark.ajm @_ghostdrank ) is an ever evolving group of artists, this iteration performed as a trio featuring minds from San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas - a darker and more vaporous subterranian auditory experience to guide us into the night. The two sets were broken up by a wonderful performance from Roméo Poirier, playing material from his forthcoming record on Jan Jelinek’s label, faitiche. This is a beautiful document of Texas’ blossoming ambient underground. You can check out some snippets of the performance on Bandcamp, Nina Protocol, and SoundCloud, but the only way to hear the sets in full is on the cassette tape, which is limited to only 45 copies, which are now available on Bandcamp and will be available at tonight’s release party at community garden from 7-11. 5/23/25 Going to be a sweat fest this evening, which is, for me, conducive to rarity. If the musicians aren’t dripping with sweat, is the music actually “live”?

The best part of echo bridge is, the space itself is an instrument, and the flora and fauna produce 100% unique field recordings in real time, so I don’t have to prepare samples. Last time I tested it with my horn, the decay on the acoustic diffusion lasted around 7 seconds. That’s sacred architecture territory. Don’t miss it. Sound system, with SUB, provided by @_sa_2040_
