Blue Gender - Blue Gender is out now anywhere you enjoy hearing music. Limited edition tapes are also available on Bandcamp. It is often the deepest part of the night when absence becomes the most apparent, a very specific kind of heartache and soul deep longing seemingly reserved for the blurry hours between 4 and 5 AM when it feels like you are the only person still awake and the only light left to see by is the faint glow of your phone and the old text messages you can’t stop pouring over, the mind retreading old ground and searching for new constellations but finding only dying stars. On the self titled debut for Quiet Control, Blue Gender explores the borderlands of wakefulness and dream where we lie most vulnerable, the unguarded territories of the heart where the rawest truth of ourselves is most impossible to deny; a simple need to be held, to lean into the weightless release of losing oneself in the arms of another. Like a silken veil descended on the listener, Blue Gender’s quiet power bleeds from the speakers in pulses of soft diffuse light. Synth pads flicker like candles and curl in on themselves in twisting tendrils as if reaching towards the sky in quiet invocation, each desperate cry from the sampler etching its way through the mind like fingers tracing lines through static. A sound so undiluted in its sadness and regret that it feels almost sacred to behold, a gentle and gratifying reminder that even in the moments when we feel most alone, the quietest hours of the night will always be there to hold us. Hard to find the words to express the last couple of days. @romeo.poirier came down to Texas for the first time, and it was beyond special. Sunday night, Roméo transported a sold out show at The Echo Bridge to some sort of dream world - enveloping around us and pressing upon reality. @_space_available started the night with an incredible set - his sets are always one of a kind and they never ever miss. Texas is lucky to have him, as well as INTERZONE (@wrldmchne @ark.eq @_ghostdrank ) who closed the night out with a perfect set for the bridge - and sent everyone off into the night on a high note. On Monday, we made the journey to Quiet Control’s home base, @communitygarden.austin - where an incredibly mindful and enthusiastic crowd joined us for an intimate night that felt like we had the pleasure of sitting in a living room together and enjoying the sounds with one another. INTERZONE brought it, once again. Roméo… words can’t express the set. Truly took us all to somewhere else. So many people to thank, most importantly, every person who came out and sat with the music and let it live next to them over these two nights. Everyone was so respectful, and kind, and in tune. So many lovely familiar faces, and so many new ones. Thank you all for making it so, so special. Massive thank you’s to the @echobridgeappreciationsociety crew, Justin, Jeff, and JJ as well as the @communitygarden.austin crew, James, Ava, and Tanner. It’s been a minute since I held the fort down on my own, so I’ll be spinning for 5 whole hours (maybe a couple guest appearances throughout the night) this Friday night. His album, RV Lights, which released on West Mineral Ltd. last year, was one of my favorite records of the year. He’ll be joined by @bluegender.fm and @freeself.72 , playing a live set of lots of forthcoming music on the label. @wrldmchne and I will be behind the decks throughout the night. This is going to be a beautiful night, so I hope you can make it out and spend some time with us!

So excited to announce our next label release will be coming out on 1/22 - and it’s a real special one. The debut, self-titled album from Texas-based Blue Gender is a gauzy, early-morning, ambient R&B heart melter. I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Please join us for the release party on the 22nd at community garden, where the crew will be playing tracks and we’ll take the time to listen to the record together, as well as slanging some tapes and super limited edition merch. Really, really excited about this one and I hope you’ll come out and join us to celebrate!

So much good music in 2025 - here’s some of the music that I made lots of memories to this year. Thanks so much to everyone for another lovely year. So many exciting things planned for 2026!
