Welcome To Black Women Of Kaufman 🤎🌺
Who Are We? Black Women Of Kaufman (BWOK) is a grassroots organization that serves as a resource and safe space for Black-identifying women and allies, advocating for a dance community where Black women’s voices, experiences, and identities are fully heard and honored.
The goals of BWOK are to cultivate affirming spaces that promote solidarity. Grounded in wellness, intentional dialogue, and cultural education, our work honors Black womanhood within USC and greater dance community.
Through BWOK, members are invited into:
🌺 A safe, affirming, and inclusive community rooted in belonging and care
🌺 Wellness-centered gatherings, including healing circles, reflection spaces, and embodied practices that prioritize rest, joy, and sustainability
🌺 Opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and creative development
🌺 Networking events, panels, and workshops with alumni and industry professionals
🌺 Interdisciplinary collaboration across USC
🌺 Mentorship and support in navigating artistic, academic, and professional pathways
As we begin this journey of collective solidarity-hood, we invite you to join us in cultivating spaces grounded in care, listening, and shared intention. We can’t wait to share what’s to come!!
✨Be on the look out for our first Solidarity Circle 👀🔜
we watched, and the children waited
by me, performed with @hayden.mucha
from program:
Beyond borders and headlines, countless children inherit hunger as aid is halted and borders close. This piece is a small act of witness, a reminder of what it means to look, to feel, and not turn away. May it serve as a call to conscience—an urging to recognize our shared responsibility as those who were once children on this earth.
Inviting and encouraging continued generousity and support through donations to organizations such as UNICEF and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, which work to combat child hunger, displacement, and the loss of access to basic human needs.
