Last weekend, the United States International Poster Biennial was honored to participate in National Parks Posters: Then & Now at Poster House in New York City. Christopher Scott, President and Co Founder of USIPB, was joined by Taber Calderon and Marlena Buczek Smith for a thoughtful conversation on the historical impact of National Park posters and their continued influence on contemporary design practice. Together, they reflected on the enduring legacy of American poster design and how today’s designers reinterpret themes of landscape, identity, and conservation for new audiences. At the conclusion of the event, our Vice President and Co Founder Ryan Slone presented the USIPB Legacy Award to Poster House in recognition of its outstanding contribution to advancing and preserving the poster arts in the United States. #usipb #posterhouse #nyc #graphicdesign

“ON SURFACES FRAGILE: A NOVEL BY NAYR ENOLS” BY RYAN SLONE “On Surfaces Fragile,” the fourth novel by philanthropist and relational guru Nayr Enols, follows Seymore, a hesitant father struggling to connect with his child, whose neural lattice glitches, mirroring Seymore’s buried fears. As he explores unconventional parenting communities, Seymore begins to question programmed care, discovering that true nurturing may require embracing the unpredictability of human emotions. Tender and thought-provoking, this novel redefines what it means to love. Ryan Slone is a designer, educator, curator, and posterist exploring design activism through social-advocacy posters. The founder of the US International Poster Biennial, his work has earned international recognition, including Graphis Platinum and selections in major global exhibitions. Currently an assistant professor at University of Arkansas, he previously served as art director at DOXA and worked at Pentagram under Michael Bierut. Ryan holds an M.F.A. from Vermont College of Fine Arts. @_ryan_slone #bookstand2125

Teaching a special topics course on poster design has been a dream. This past week, we had the pleasure of inviting the extraordinary posterist and maker, Keith Kitz, to our virtual studio for a collage workshop. No tools, no glue, no tape—just our hands and some printed ephemera. The short, sequenced process and collaborative approach made this hands-on, process-focused experience so memorable. ✨ @uarkdesign @uarkart @keithakitz

Last night was 1.5 years in the making as we inaugurated the United States International Poster Biennial at Iowa State University. Humbled and grateful for the continued support by so many. 🤍

Graphis has been a guiding presence in my life as a designer for years. Today, I learned that my poster, "Orlando United," was recognized with the highest distinction of platinum in the 2023 Poster Annual. Fitting for Pride month. I'm also fortunate to have one gold and two silver awards included in the collection. Honored and humbled is an understatement. 🫀🌀🥹
