We’re so proud of our graduating design student
@mckinley.hughes and her work on the exhibition design for last night’s celebration at the Fine Arts Center on the University of Arkansas campus. The exhibition was part of the grand reopening and 75 year anniversary of the center that was designed by Arkansas native and UA alumnus Edward Durell Stone.
The event included McKinley’s exhibition design that showed historic works and artifacts in the teaching gallery, in collaboration with the UA Libraries’ Special Collections Division. Her work was completed under the guidance of Art History Program Director John Blakinger
@john_blakinger , Curator & Director of Exhibitions Marc Mitchell
@methan18 , and Architectural Records Archivist Catherine Wallack, with design guidance and assistance from Graphic Design Associate Professor Ryan Slone
@_ryan_slone and School of Art Senior Designer Will Watson
@willhwatson . Appropriately, the design style takes elements from mid-century modern design, meshing the bold, uppercase type style with a condensed sans serif.
We’re also excited to announce that McKinley will be joining the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
@crystalbridgesmuseum team as an associate designer! Based on seeing this work especially, we know McKinley will be a great part of the Crystal Bridges team with our other alumni there.
Congratulations, McKinley, School of Art administration and staff, and everyone who brought this incredible event together!
