✨Instagram Takeover✨ Hey all! My name is Chloe. I’ve been an illustrator with Astound for just over three years now! I’m excited to take over the agency instagram for a few days (and I can promise a few pictures of cats)! During my time at Astound, I have illustrated over 75 book covers, created numerous marketing materials for publishers, and have worked on many other special projects. A little about me—I am an illustrator and cover designer from the Pacific Northwest in the United States. I graduated with my BFA in 2019, and I have been working in the publishing industry since 2021. My love for painting and drawing started before I could hold a brush, and I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in the arts. When it comes to my professional work as an illustrator—whether it be a fantasy adventure or a contemporary romance—it is important to me that my work authentically reflect the author’s vision, specifically identity, place, and story. Working with authors and art directors to accomplish this is one of my greatest joys. When I’m not drawing or answering emails, I am attending the every whim of my feline art assistant, Furguson, and his new assistant JellyBean (also feline). Question: Why is your instagram handle and art brand quinnasaurus? Answer: I have had my instagram handle since I was in high school. At the time, my best friends were determined to find a nickname for me. ✏️Ten Second Tips: Loosen your grip! This one’s pretty simple, but can actually make a big difference. In some college drawing classes, they made us duck tape a pencil to a long stick and draw. While I wouldn’t go that far with an iPad, holding the pencil further back may change your line quality if it has been feeling kinda stiff. When you remember to loosen up, taking a 30 second break to stare at something across the room can also help refresh your vision if you’ve been looking at your screen too long.
