I love when I get a chance to explore and play with different styles of makeup, Of course i love a beautiful glam but makeup itself is so versatile and fun. Honestly it’s really my playground and to do stuff like this always will warm my heart🫶🏾
Its always so fun learning new things when it comes to makeup and one thing i can always appreciate is meeting other makeup artists. Everyone ranges in experience but each holds so much value and i learned so much on set by not only being in the field but just by having conversations. everyone is so creative and unique in their own ways the conversations are different🤣 which I can always appreciate.

I thought it would be fun to show you guys how to cover up a tattoo while also throwing in a quick lesson on color theory and breaking down how it relates to the color correcting process, enjoy!
Understanding color theory is fundamental knowledge for makeup artist, but it is also really useful for anyone who just would like to play and experiment with makeup. No makeup does not have rules but it most definitely has a theory and it’s super easy to manipulate and play with certain things when you understand it. Understanding and recognizing color is just as important as technique.
Now I could do a couple videos on color theory, The importance of it and how useful it can be as a makeup artist when understanding it ect but I feel like that’s way too much for one reel or video so drop a comment below if thats something you guys are interested in and if so I’ll make a series out of this.

As a Makeup Artist we all have challenges we face, how many of us try to hide them, suffer in silence, or are not even sure how those challenges impact the way we work?
My name is Cat, I’m a MUA in Dallas, TX, and in honor of this month being Mental Health Awareness Month, I’d like to shed light on one of the challenges I face as a Makeup Artist with ADHD.
Time blindness, is my personal struggle. But have you heard of it? If you’ve focused on one task for an extended period of time and don’t realize how many minutes have gone by, it’s highly likely you’ve experienced “time-blindness”. Sounds like no big deal though, right? Understand the dilemma is that some of the ADHD traits or behaviors are considered normal.. ADHDers just experience them to the point of impairment, which makes it an issue😅.
If you’re not careful, a good chunk of your day can slip away when it comes to time blindness. Timing myself while doing my clients makeup is one thing that I have found useful over the last year; strategically breaking down my makeup process into increments, to help with time blindness.
To complete a full face, I know that it takes me 1hr and15 or 20 minutes. However, considering time blindness, I strive to stay aware while working. So, I set up time increments of 6-8 minutes on my phone to alert me indicating how much time has passed. Depending on how many alerts have gone off, not only am I aware of how much time has passed but also, which part of the face I should be on based on the amount of time. That way, if im “behind” schedule I can catch up and if im ahead of schedule I’m able to stay in my zone 😎
MUA: are you struggling to complete a face in the amount of time you desire?No? Time yourself on your phone so you know exactly how long it’ll take you to do certain things, and not let time get away from you! Break down your makeup process based on the amount of time you take to complete whatever part of the face (eyes, brows, skin, etc) then, with practice, use that knowledge to your advantage to help you get into the swing of things.
