My debut album, Self Portrait, enters this world on April 5th and I want to celebrate it with you. Go to my bio and pre-save it so we're together the moment it arrives.
This album is my baby. I've nurtured these songs, feelings, and thoughts for 5 years. This is a giant party and the whole world is invited.
Pre-save it. Pencil it into your calendar. Tell your mom, your uncle, and your dog that Lukile is dropping on April 5th. You know where to find the link. See you here again tomorrow.
SNAKEBONES OUT NOW
thank you for your continued support along this journey ❤ I appreciate each and every one of you.
Special thanks to @franadilla for the Artwork, styling and press images. Thank you to @luc_veermeer for the excellent mix and master work. Thank you to @pvstelcoastline for the impeccable bio. Thanks to @miansofproduction and o_alexandriac_o for the masterful edits in bringing the bio to life. And of course thank you to @thesunkissedsojourner for all the support (and dyeing my hair ocean blue for the cover)
Release day is only the top of the mountain. I still have the rest of the way down to go, and I hope you enjoy the journey with me.
My first song is out today and I feel good but I also feel like throwing up. A couple of you have heard it already because I’ve been tweaking it since about 2019, hoping that if I pull the right slider and add the right effect, it’d sound good and finished. I wanted to be able to say I did everything myself, but what ended up happening is I got tunnel vision and lost sight of what the work was supposed to sound like or represent. Eventually I realized that I didn’t have to do it all by myself and I could get help from other people. Honestly, I realised that I CAN’T do it all by myself and that most of my inspiration came from other people anyway - sometimes directly, but mostly through the internet or youtube or whatever.
What’s important is that I like this song a lot, but I’m also sick of being the only one hearing it over and over. So it’s time to share it and hope that you or someone else likes it too. I will be spending the rest of 2022 releasing more songs and working with more people to realise my goals for this life I’ve landed in. I want to claim my place as a musician and I don’t want to get hit by a car or have a piano land on me from a 12-storey building knowing that I had a bunch of finished material sitting on my laptop that nobody listened to. I have something to say and I want to say it. This is where I want it all to begin.

Special thanks to Refiloe for helping bounce ideas for the song for about 3 years and not killing me out of frustration.

March. A full circle moment. 10 years ago I was a pimply teenager who once played the clarinet at the Orbit. I was there with the National Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble, and snapped this selfie in front of Bheki Mseleku’s mural in between rehearsals.
A decade or so later, I was back on the same stage, performing my own music. Solo. I only realised it when I stepped outside for air and saw the very same mural on the wall.
This year is an experiment for me. To get stage as often as I can and learn as much as possible. I’ve got two shows in two cities coming up in April. More to follow soon x
