2025 EDITED. 14 Photo Editors, 14 Photographers, 2 Schools, 1 Book. The final project of the Photo Editors‘ Program “EDITED” has long been established as a serious publication spotlighting emerging photographers from @ostkreuzschulefuerfotografie and @icp : combining valuable documentary photography with creative picture editing techniques and new book designs. This year the book features stories about cultural heritage and migration, Ukrainian youth and diaspora in times of war, militarization of the Swiss society, New York Subway, Jewish Orthodox traditions, queer life realities, post-GDR-perspectives, and a personal look behind uniforms, diaspora communities, friendship, fatherhood and the fairy tales of our childhood. One year of photo editor studies has come to an end. It was an intense, beautiful and foremost expanding time in my life. As my partner put it: I have finally been sorted into the right Hogwarts house. 𖦹 Life has whirled on before I could really realize that this special time is over again. So here comes a short shoutout that can only give a glimpse and never do it justice: It was an honor to get to know so many inspiring people – learning together and from each other. Starting early on sunday mornings without complaining and still being full of enthusiasm for exhibition visits on friday afternoons. Always the best week of the month, already one of the best years of the decade. Now we are passing the baton to the next class. Before we are totally done with the year, here is a small re-cap of photo books that found their way onto my shelfs, window stills and dinner table. A WALK IN THE PARK by @dana_engfer , published together with her partner @moritzotto at @schneckenpublishing .  WHERE THE POPLARS GROW by @irinaunruh , published by @shift.books . Aside from this being a personal one for me, it is a beautiful book which honors a people and their story but also tells universal tales of migration and the longing for one’s roots. Designed by @me.helena . EYE MAMA (@eyemamaproject ) by Karni Arieli. Images through the lens of mama-photographers: Honest, raw, beautiful. Published by TeNeues. A WORLD IN COMMON is a Tate Exhibition Book, edited by Osei Bonsu who also curated the exhibition. Like on the wall, the book includes many talented African Artists. ALIENS by @fotoerikimer feels like science merged with pop art. Well researched, entertaining and comprehensive. Designed by @sonjatrabandt , published by @fotohof .  I found ERINNERUNG AN AHRENSHOOP by @thomassandberg5022 secondhand at @sanktstudio . An homage to a place that feels like home to me and apparently also to Thomas Sandberg. A lot has changed since the eighties, a lot is still the same.  EDITED 2021. Can be read from both sides.  Graduates of @ostkreuzschulefuerfotografie make incredibly great books. Two of them are:  HAGAZUSSA by @mia.flambard &  SAAT by @simone.nathalie.fuchs .  EDITED 2022 has a poster as a book cover. How cool is that? At @bildband.berlin I stumbled upon SORRY I GAVE BIRTH I DISAPPEARED BUT NOW I’M BACK by @andigaldi . Published by @trolleybooks . Instant love. Andi Galdi has found a universal language for the often unglamorous, demanding and at the same time beautiful and heart-expanding transition into parenthood. HOMECOMING published by @forma_edizioni is an exhibition book featuring multiple international photographers. Edited by Irene Alison and Paolo Cagnacci together with Laura Andreini. Last but not least SEEK AND SEE by @jenny.hasselbach & @frdnd . Playful photography and exceptional design.  Now looking forward to our own version of EDITED.
