“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” ~ Ephesians 3:20-21
All Praise Due To El Elyon, The Most High God, for healing my brokenness of unworthiness, my brokenness of lack, my brokenness of a survival mentality 🙏🏿. This year Yahweh has revealed to me my true identity in Christ Jesus - one of abundance, one of wholeness, one of fully realized potential 🤲🏿.
Thank you my brother Omete @ometeanassi for encouraging me to do this and ensuring I showed up for myself. Thank you to Lonnie and thank you to this gorgeous Princess 🐎 for being so gentle and calm. I’m honestly just a chocolate accessory to your brillant brown mane in these photos. I owe you a bunch of carrots next time I ride you.
📷: @caminasinmiedo Endless gratitude to my dearest friend Julisa for bringing this idea to life. It was a smooth, seamless, and laughter filled experience working with you. I am eternally grateful.
Lastly, to my beloved brother Shon @shon4mayor , this one was for you. “I’ll see you in space 🚀✨cowboy,” when God calls me home.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one brother sharpens another.”

“And not only that, but we also boast in suffering—knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance produces character; and character produces hope.” <Romans 5:3-4>
Let the Most High God complete the work He is doing in you. Let Him refine and perfect your character such that you not only reach the highest level of your purpose - but you also arrive with the CHARACTER necessary to sustain and keep you there.

Personally, the hardest part about working out was never the exercises themselves, the necessary effort to spark change, or the time required to see progress - the hardest part was just getting myself to START. I have learned and believe wholeheartedly that SHOWING UP is half the battle, the other half is finishing. That is my only obligation.
Liberate yourself from any negative thoughts and/or feelings of comparison about what happens in between starting and finishing.
Your only competition is yourself. Hear me, your only competition is who you were yesterday. It doesn’t matter how many times you have stopped and started your wellness/fitness/healing journey. Why? Because each new day you reset and start from scratch. Thus focus on becoming 1% better everyday. Then look up in a year and congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come 🤲🏿.

“If they don’t know your dreams, then they can’t shoot them down 🚀🌒🧑🏿🚀.”
Met my favorite rap artist today @realcoleworld
Even got a chance to briefly share how incredibly impactful his music was to my personal journey.
Although my words failed to comprehensively capture exactly how his words have helped me. A simple “thank you” will have to do 🙏🏿. New core memory unlocked 🤲🏿.
I pray that, one day, the Most High God refines ME into a man worthy of a Proverbs 31 woman 🤲🏿🤎.

Binamu @jrologist (Cousin),
I had to take a moment to say thank you for your unconditional kindness, selfless support, and intentional compassionate advice you have given me over the last few years. I also want to shower you with love and my gratitude.
Having you in Houston has been amazing - from attending art galleries and R&B parties to having deep conversations pool side well into the night.
Never forget you are covered by the Most High God as you enter this next chapter in your life. May it be a season of purpose, provision, and peace. I’m happy to be your cousin and even more honored to be your friend. May God give you everything you need to produce the amazing fruit assigned to your life and calling 🤲🏿!

Thank you God for finally healing my inner child. Before YOU formed me in my mother’s womb you foreknew me. All Praise and Glory due to the Most High God.
“You are the ONE who created my innermost parts, you knit me together while I was still in my mother’s womb. I give thanks to YOU that I was marvelously set apart. You works are wonderful, I know that very well.” - Psalms 139:13-14

A few years ago I had the amazing opportunity to visit The Book of Hov exhibit at the Brooklyn Pubic Library in New York. It was an exquisite experience to journey through the career of arguably the greatest rapper to ever live in Jay Z.
“So they made light of, my type of
Dreams seem dumb, they said wise up
How many guys you see making it from here?
The world don’t like us, is that not clear?
Alright but
I’m DIFFERENT, I can’t base what I’m gonna be
Off a what everybody ISN’T
They don’t listen, just whispering behind my back
No vision, lack of ambition so wack.” - Jay Z
These words further cemented me as a fan of Jay Z’s work - specifically after a life changing incident with my first ever physics teacher during my freshman year in high school. Hurricane Katrina had just hit and I shared a class with a few people from New Orleans, many of them being my friends.
The physics teacher, who also my football coach, reprimanded for causing a distraction in class while I was actually helping my New Orleans friends out with the assignment (effectively doing his job for him). The physics teacher looked me dead in my eyes and said, “Anassi, you aren’t going to make it past 17 years old if you keep hanging around people like them (my new orleans friends).”
The anger mixed with undeserving shame I felt behind an authority figure telling me I wasn’t going to be shit in life as a high school freshman nearly destroyed the confidence I had in myself. Not to mention the ugliness he spewed about the characters of 14 year old kids who just lost everything in a weather disaster. That incident infected my identity for the majority of my high school years until I heard those lyrics above by Jay Z.
From that point on I made a decision to be and become the greatest version of myself which, funny enough, resulted in me majoring in engineering and physics in college (while also playing college football).
I am eternally grateful that God was able to use song lyrics to heal my self doubt and change the trajectory of my life for the better.
