THE MET. . . I’m like a month late but I did a thing and fcked around and became a MASTER at Acting??? Like paperwork approved… and I bet money my father will still give me notes after every performance he sees (though he’s never acted a day in his life) . . ā€œBeing rebellious and Black, a nonconformist, being cool and hip and angry and sophisticated and ultra clean, whatever else you want to call it—I was all those things and more.ā€ —Miles Davis, fellow Juilliarder

good people make the world go round šŸŒšŸŒ³ . . ā€œShe sings these words, knowing that if we’re in this room, then we’ve probably known sorrow, probably known shame. We know death in its multitudes, but we’re all very serious about being alive. And since the one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing, we turn our mourning into movement… It’s here, occupying a space where we don’t have to explain. Where we can feel beautiful. Where we might feel free.ā€ — ā€œSmall Worldsā€ by Caleb Azumah Nelson

ā€œBefore we proceed any further, hear me speakā€ . . CORIOLANUS, performed at Oxford University by the Da’Vine Joy Randolph group of the British American Drama Academy. I can’t even begin to tell you how much that day / that month / those people / that play / that entire summer meant to me, and how much it did for me as a person and an artist.

ā€œGoon would’ve love this filmā€ . . First and foremost, HAPPY MOTHERFUCKING BIRTHDAY to one of my artistic soulmates @oskamara , I say it damn near everyday and I’ll say it until the end of time: ā€œI’d follow you into fire.ā€ I think I genuinely stopped believing in this shit man, and then I met you, and all of sudden all the love and light I *assumed* acting would bring me was actually possible. Thank you for being one of the greatest leaders I’ve ever met. . . Second, THANK YALL SO SO SO DAMN MUCH !!! Yall have been supporting ā€œAfrican Giantsā€ in a way I couldn’t even have prayed for. For all of you that have come to see the film I no theatres, or at film festivals, Q&As, screen tests, whatever — I cannot thank you enough. My late brother was (is) a picky mf man lol and a huge contrarian. He hated practically everything šŸ˜‚ and also, he woulda absolutely loved this movie. I’m so happy. My heart is so full.
