I named this brand after my grandmother, Eugene Taylor. What started as a tribute has become my way of communicating—turning life into stories people can wear. Built from memory, resilience, and honesty, this collection, ‘I’m Fine, How Are You?,’ is about the question we all ask but rarely answer truthfully. See it come to life at NYFW on September 13th at 2pm @asafespacestudios

The context of this song is loyalty, support, and protection, which seemed fitting as that’s all I want in this life. 🖤

Depression manifests differently for each person. For me, it leads to isolation and retreating into my shell, where I feel safe and protected, like the true Cancer that I am. Throughout my life, my deepest desires have been to feel safe, protected, seen, and heard. Even at 34, I continue to strive for these fundamental needs in both my personal and professional life. It’s a constant struggle that often leaves me feeling overwhelmed and incredibly drained with nowhere to turn. My truth is difficult for some to hear. I acknowledge that I am shaped by my experiences, and that they’ve had a profound impact on me. I establish boundaries and prioritize my well-being because, ultimately, I am responsible for looking out for myself and I do my very best. My brand means everything to me, and it hurts deeply when others fail to recognize the amount I have put into it. Last year, I reached a breaking point after enduring the most challenging years of my adult life. All I want now is the peace and tranquility that I deserve. The ongoing struggle to be seen, heard, and treated equally can be draining, but I keep finding the strength to keep going. I’m incredibly grateful for the resilience, ambition, and faith that God has instilled in me. I refuse to give up on my purpose and will continue to fight for the recognition I deserve. Designing has been my main source of joy over the years, giving me a sense of family and belonging in a world where I struggle to find my place. On May 9th, I celebrated years of unwavering passion and dedication to the one dream that has always driven me. As I prepare to share this milestone, I am feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. However, as RZA said, sometimes greatness happens in isolation, and I can confidently say that the best is yet to come.
